Nikola Nikolic recorded a goal and an assist and the U-Mary men's team rolled past Upper Iowa 4-1. It was the second straight win for the Marauders.
The Marauders (2-7-2) scored first on a defensive mistake by the Peacocks (6-6-1) as Upper Iowa scored an own goal just 10:32 into the match to give U-Mary a 1-0 lead.
With 5:13 remaining before intermission, Kyle Roesler would double the Marauders lead when he scored on a header off a free kick served by Nikolic.
Upper Iowa would cut the U-Mary lead in half on a goal by Zach Castor in the 70th minute; Derek Oelmann picked up the assist with a cross to Castor.
It didn't take the Marauders long to retaliate. Scoring his first goal of the season, Chris Stier converted a free kick from Ryan Buchholz in the 72nd minute.
Nikolic sealed the Marauders win with his fourth goal of the season in the 83rd minute.
The Marauders held a 14-6 advantage in shots and an 8-3 edge in shots on frame behind a tremendous defensive effort by U-Mary.
The Peacocks will head south for a match tomorrow night in Sioux Falls, S.D. Upper Iowa will take on the Cougars of the University of Sioux Falls at 7:30 p.m.
