The Peacock soccer teams got the 2010-11 athletic year started yesterday at Jamestown College in North Dakota. The women posted a dominating 5-0 victory to earn the Peacocks first win of the year. The men were able to claim a 2-2 draw versus the Jimmies.
For the women, Liz Kaluzinski drove two balls to the back of the net, while Emily Gielau, Allison Clark and Alyssa Petersburg all notched one goal apiece. Valeria Ptasinski and Shaina Marnell both accounted for two assists while Leslie Willson assisted on the team's third goal.
On the men's side, both goals came off corner kick situations. Marco Garcia tallied both assists initiating the corner kick, while Tanner Dvorak made both count knocking the ball past the Jimmie goalkeeper.
Both teams are in action again today with the women's team facing Northwestern (Iowa) at 1:00 at Jamestown before the teams will travel to Bismarck for the men's game tonight at 6:00. The men's team will be playing Regis tonight and then Metro State on Sunday and U-Mary on Monday. All three matches will take place in Bismarck and are being hosted by U-Mary.
