This Week in Women’s Soccer...

A busy week is in store for the Upper Iowa Peacock Women’s Soccer team with a non-conference match during the week and a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference road matches over the upcoming weekend.

On Wednesday, the Peacocks visit Milwaukee, Wisconsin to take on the Wolves of Cardinal Stritch University.  The match is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.

This weekend, the Peacocks will visit Northern Minnesota to take on the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs and the Beavers of Bemidji State.  Both matches are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday.

Upper Iowa returns home next weekend to open the month of October against Augustana and Wayne State.

Scouting the Wolves

Cardinal Stritch enters Wednesday’s match with a 1-5-0 overall record and have dropped their last four matches by a combined score of 16-4.

The lone win for CSU came on August 28 in Orange City, Iowa when they defeated Northwestern (IA) College, 3-1.

The Peacocks also defeated Northwestern earlier this season in Jamestown, ND by a 3-0 margin.

Scouting the Bulldogs

UMD entertains the Peacocks Friday with a 2-2-2 overall record which includes a 2-0-0 mark in NSIC play after defeating UM, Crookston and MSU Moorhead in the opening weekend of league play.

The Bulldogs have tied with Colorado School of Mines and Northern Michigan earlier this season with both matches away from Malosky Stadium.

Scouting the Beavers

The Beavers of Bemidji State enter Friday’s matchup with #24-ranked Winona State carrying a perfect 5-0-0 record in 2010 which includes a 2-0 mark in conference action after defeating MSU Moorhead and UM, Crookston last weekend in Bemidji, Minnesota.

The Beavers have only allowed three goals this season in their five matches with two of them coming against Viterbo.

Series History

Since transitioning to NCAA Division II, the Peacocks have never met Cardinal Stritch.  UIU is 0-2 against UMD and 1-4 against Bemidji State over the same time.

The Last Meeting

The Peacocks and Beavers met last season in Fayette on October 2.  Upper Iowa got their lone NCAA Division II win over BSU on that day, 2-1.

The next afternoon, Upper Iowa lost to Minnesota Duluth, 1-0,  after a last second Peacock goal was waved off.

This Week in Men’s Soccer...

Winners of two of their last three matches, the Upper Iowa Men’s Soccer team looks to keep rolling through the 2010 season this week with a pair of matches in three days.

On Wednesday, the Peacocks battle the Wolves of Cardinal Stritch University at 7 p.m. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Then on Friday, Upper Iowa will travel to Superior, Wisconsin to take on the Yellow Jackets of UW-Superior.  Kickoff for that match is scheduled for 4 p.m. on UWS’s newly renovated soccer field.

Upper Iowa defeated Cornell College in their last outing 6-0.  Earlier last week, the Peacocks sent Waldorf College home with a 1-0 loss.

Scouting the Wolves

The Wolves of Cardinal Stritch enter Wednesday’s contest with a 4-1-2 overall record in 2010 and are coming off of a 5-2 victory in their last outing over Northland International.

Like the Peacocks, CSU has won two of their last three matches.

G-OEL!!!

Peacock forward Derek Oelmann recorded a hat trick last Sunday against Cornell College as Upper Iowa dominated the Rams, 6-0.
