The Peacocks dropped their second Northern Sun Conference match this week when the Vikings of Augustana defeated Upper Iowa in three sets. The two teams met in Sioux Falls, S.D. and the home team proved to be too much for UIU to handle. The loss drops UIU’s record to 2-8 overall and 0-2 in the NSIC, while Augustana improves to 5-5 overall and 1-0 in the NSIC.
Upper Iowa only hit .036 with 20 kills and 17 hitting errors, while the home Vikings hit .271 with 42 kills and 16 hitting errors. Augie also held large advantages in digs (45-31) and service aces (7-2).
Sara Vance hit a team-high 5 kills, while Danielle Gernes registered 13 digs for the Peacocks. Skylar Lesan set up the offense with 14 assists.
The Peacocks will have a chance to get right back on the court tomorrow, but the opponent won’t be any easier. Upper Iowa will make the short trip south from Sioux Falls, S.D. to Wayne, Neb. for an NSIC match with the #7 Wildcats of Wayne State College. The match is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
