This Week in Peacock Soccer...
Winners of their last two, the Upper Iowa Men’s Soccer team closes out the 2010 campaign Wednesday afternoon by playing the Crusaders of Clarke University. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. on Wahlert Field in Dubuque.
Upper Iowa guaranteed themselves a winning season last Wednesday when they defeated Iowa Wesleyan 5-0 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. UIU’s Derek Oelmann netted two goals in the match to stay tied for the NCAA Division II lead with 17. Each of the three players tied for the national lead each tallied two goals in action last week.
Scouting the Crusaders
The Clarke University Crusaders enter Tuesday’s match with the University of Dubuque with a 6-7-2 overall record and a 3-4-1 mark in NAIA’s Midwest Collegiate Conference.
The Crusaders have lost two of their last three matches heading into the contest with the Spartans.

The Peacocks are 1-1-1 against Clarke since UIU transitioned to NCAA Division II.
The Last Meeting
The Peacocks and Crusaders last met on October 21, 2009 in Fayette. UIU scored two goals in the first half en route to a 3-0 victory.

Peacock forward Derek Oelmann recorded his third hat trick of the 2010 season on Oct. 17 against St. Ambrose. The Peacocks defeated the Bees, 5-3.
The junior has tallied 17 of UIU’s 29 goals this season.
