Kelly Roberts is entering her third season in 2017-18 as the assistant softball coach at Upper Iowa.
Roberts came to Upper Iowa from the University from the University of Rio Grande in Rio Grande, Ohio, where she served as the graduate assistant with the softball program assisting the coaching staff with pitching and defense, as well as on-field maintenance, recruiting, fundraising, and monitoring academics. The Red Storm won the 2015 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and Roberts helped Jenna Jones earn KIAC First Team honors as a pitcher.
Roberts also has extensive experience working at softball camps, including the USA Preps Softball Camp in Palmdale, California, and the Tusculum College Softball Camp in Greeneville, Tennessee. In addition, she worked at Rock N’ Fire Professional Pitching Instruction as an intern instructor.
As an athlete, Roberts played two seasons at Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she earned PSAC Central First Team honors as a pitcher, as well as winning a pair of PSAC Championships and made a NCAA Division II World Series Appearance. King transferred to Tusculum College where she earned her degree in sport management and finished her softball playing career, earning SAC All-Tournament Team honors in 2013 and a spot on the SAC Honorable Mention Team in 2014. She also sets new single-season and career shutout records at Tusculum.
Kelly married her husband Jay in December of 2017, and the two currently live in Fayette.
