Roberto Hernandez joined the Peacock men's soccer staff as a graduate assistant in the fall of 2023. During his first season with the team, Hernandez helped guide the Peacocks to a 7-7-3 record while going 4-7-2 in GLVC play.
Prior to becoming a graduate assistant, Hernandez was an assistant coach for the Twin City Toucans of the USL League Two in the summer of 2022. The Toucans finished with a record of 7-2-3 in his one season with the team.
Hernandez played for Texas Rush Academy, the USA Youth National u-14 and u-16 Team and Houston Dynamo Academy during his youth playing career. He attended Barton Community College for the 2018 season recording two goals and five assists. His team finished with a record of 21-2-2 and were the NJCAA National Runners-Up. Hernandez attend Iowa Western Community College for the 2019 season where he scored two goals and recorded four assists. After a successful JUCO career, Hernandez played at the division 1 level for the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley from 2019-21. He finished his career at the University of Mount Olive from 2021-23 where he was promoted to team captain and played under current Peacocks head coach Jason Carlson. Hernandez scored six goals and dished out one assist during his senior season.
A native of Weslaco, Texas, Hernandez graduated from Iowa Western Community College with an Associate of Arts and the University of Mount Olive with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. He graduated from Upper Iowa in 2025 with a Master's in Business Administration with a Sports Administration emphasis.
