Biography

2016: Earned All-NSIC Honorable Mention honors after recording 41 tackles including 22 solo tackles... made a living in the opponent's backfield with 11 tackles for loss (11th NSIC) and 3.5 sacks... the redshirt junior didn't know if he would play football again following his freshman season due to a heart condition, but after a year off the field and a clean bill of health, Ries has returned to become one of the best defensive linemen in the Northern Sun Conference... His big games came at MSU Moorhead, where he made 7 tackles including 3 for loss and blocked a kick, and against Wayne State, when he made 8 tackles including 2.5 for loss and a sack... In total, Ries blocked two kicks which ranked 12th nationally and tied for 2nd in the NSIC.

2015: Started all 11 games on the defensive line... registered 18 tackles including 7 solo... recorded 2.5 tackles for loss and recovered a fumble.

2014: Medical redshirt.

2013: Played in all 11 games on the defensive line... registered 17 tackles including 10 solo... recorded 2 tackles for loss and 1 sack... broke up two passes as well.

2012: Redshirted.

Personal: Born May 7, 1994... son of Jeff Ries and Elaine Reinholz... sports administration major and pursuing a MBA.
