Upper Iowa University Athletics

Tommy Gerhard joined the Peacock coaching staff at the start of the 2023 calendar year after spending a year at Georgia Tech as an offensive graduate assistant. At Upper Iowa, Gerhard will work with the offensive line.

While working with the Yellow Jacket offense, Gerhard worked primarily with the tight ends. The newest Peacock assistant football coach went to Georgia Tech in 2022 from Tulane, where he served as an offensive graduate assistant in 2021 under offensive coordinator Chip Long, who also moved to Georgia Tech as the offensive coordinator, and offensive line coach Chris Watt in 2021.

Prior to Tulane, Gerhard served as a graduate assistant for two seasons at Miami (Ohio), where he worked under co-offensive coordinator/offensive line coach George Barnett and helped lead the RedHawks to the 2019 Mid-American Conference championship.

A Dayton, Ohio native, Gerhard was a four-year letter winner as an offensive lineman at Wittenberg University. He graduated from Wittenberg in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in business marketing.
