Justin Wyatt enters his seventh season in 2019-20 with the Peacock football staff after coming to Fayette prior to the 2013 season. Wyatt serves as the Upper Iowa defensive coordinator and defensive line coach. The promotion to DC came prior to the 2017 campaign.
Prior to arriving at UIU, he spent a season as the defensive line and special teams coach for the Eagles of Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri.
Wyatt's first stint in coaching came overseas as he spent the first half of the 2011 season in Rome, Italy as the defensive coordinator and defensive line coach for the S.S. Lazio Marines, a Roman Series-A football team governed by FIDAF.
As an athlete, Wyatt was a four-year starter on the defensive line for the Tigers of Missouri University, a member of the Big 12 Conference at the time, from 1995-98. One of the most memorable games at Mizzou for Wyatt came on Oct. 25, 1997; the Tigers upset Oklahoma State, the No. 12 team in the nation, in double-overtime, 51-50. As a senior, Wyatt garnered All-Big 12 First Team honors while leading the Tigers to a 7-5 overall record and 5-3 record in the Big 12.
Following his playing days, Wyatt moved into the professional world with a management-trainee position with Enterprise Rent-a-Car in Kansas City, Mo. in 2001. Two years later he was promoted to the branch rental manager where he managed the two largest operations in the territory, one of which was an international airport location.
In November of 2006, Wyatt left Enterprise to pursue an opportunity in Phoenix, Arizona as a purchasing agent for an industrial electrical contractor, Indicom Electric. He spent one year with Indicom Electric before returning to Kansas City.
Upon his return, Wyatt attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City to complete his education and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Liberal Arts in 2010.
