Alex Jorgensen joined the Peacock baseball staff as an assistant coach in July of 2023. In his first season with the Peacocks, Jorgensen helped guide the team to a 13-34 record while going 10-26 in GLVC play. He would then play a key role in Upper Iowa improving to 21-28 on the year while going 15-17 in the GLVC.
Jorgensen came to Upper Iowa after two years as the assistant baseball coach at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. In the 2021 season, he helped guide the Norse pitching staff to a combined ERA of 4.38, ranking third best in the league. Prior to joining the Norse staff, Jorgensen was the pitching coach for Central Lakes College in Brainerd, Minn.
Jorgensen, a graduate of Southwest Minnesota State in 2019, received a bachelor's degree in exercise science with an emphasis in coaching and human performance. He was a member of the Mustang baseball program for five years. During his five-year collegiate career at SMSU, he recorded 104 strikeouts in 45 appearances as a starter and reliever. During his senior season he finished 2-0 with an ERA of 2.55 and a career low .215 opponent batting average. Jorgenson capped off his career by playing professionally in the Frontier League with the Joliet Slammers in 2022. He pitched 22.1 innings and recorded an ERA of 0.81 during his 10 appearances out of the bullpen.
