2021-22: Named to the All-NSIC First Team... started all 32 games... led the team with a total of 575 points and finished eighth in the NSIC with an average of 18 per game... pulled down 134 rebounds (4.2/game)... added 87 assists (2.7/game), 29 steals, and three blocks... led the NSIC with 3.1 made 3-point field goals per game and was third in 3-point percentage... shot 43.2 (194/449) percent from the field, 38 (98/258) percent from three, and 82.4 (89/108) percent from the line... scored in double digits 28 times, including 13 times of 20+... scored a career high 30 points vs. Northern State in the first round of the NSIC tournament... led the team with 1,085 minutes played for an average of 33.9 per game... finishes his career as a Peacock second all-time in points (2,053), first in 3-pointers (370), and first for 3-pointers in a season (98)... named to NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence.
2020-21: Named to the All-NSIC Second Team... Named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence... started all 17 games for Upper Iowa... averaged 16.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.0 steals per game... reached eighth all-time on the Upper Iowa all-time scoring list with 1,478 career points... scored in double digits on 13 occasions including 20+ on seven different nights... Smoldt's 40.3% rate from three was the NSIC's third-best mark while his 85.3% rate from the free-throw line ranked sixth.Â
2019-20: Named to the All-NSIC Second Team... Named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence… Named to the NABC Honors Court... started all 30 games for the Peacocks with a team-leading 29.7 minutes per game... scored 12.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.67 assists per game... surpassed the 1,000 point milestone just 10 games into the season... had 18 double-digit scoring games, four of which were 20+ point performances... his 84.6% mark from the free throw line ranked seventh in the NSIC.
2018-19: Named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence… Made 25 starts for the Peacocks with a team leading 32.7 minutes per game… Was Upper Iowa’s most reliable scorer, recording a team-high 14.4 points per game… Had a team leading seven 20+ point performances including a career-high 27 points against Minot.
2017-18: Named NSIC Freshman of the Year… Played in 32 games and made 21 starts during his freshman campaign… Led the Peacocks in made three-pointers (91), three-point shooting (42.5%), and was second on the team in scoring (430), free-throw percentage (82.3%), and minutes per game (31.1).
High School: Named 2016-17 Iowa Mr. Basketball... led all of the state of Iowa in scoring as a senior (29.8 points per game), and scored 865 points in his final year at Gladbrook-Reinbeck... Smoldt was the only player in the state to connect on more than 100 three-pointers... guided G-R on their greatest run in school history, finishing 100-10 in that four-year stretch... for his career, Smoldt finished with 2,358 points, good for seventh all-time in the state's history... averaged 21.4 points per game in his career... guided the Rebels to three consecutive Class 1A state tournament appearances, and four-straight North Iowa Cedar League (NICL) West Division championships... Smoldt was voted captain of the state’s all-tournament team three times as Gladbrook-Reinbeck finished first, fourth and second in consecutive seasons... Smoldt led a group of six seniors who went 51-1 in conference games and ended their careers with a 48-game league winning streak... G-R finished the 2014-15 campaign with a perfect 28-0 record and a state championship... Smoldt was named First Team All-State four times, and is a three-time 1A Player of the Year.
Personal: Son of Dan and Shelli Smoldt... graduated with a Bachelor's degree in accounting... pursuing a Master's degree in Business Administration.
