Peacocks set for a pair of GLVC contests, host first home match on Saturday

Upper Iowa squares off with Missouri-St. Louis on Wednesday and McKendree on Saturday

FAYETTE, Iowa - UIU men's soccer (0-1-2, 0-1 GLVC) travels to St. Louis on Wednesday to take on Missouri-St. Louis (1-1-1, 0-0-1 GLVC). Forecasted rain later in the day in St. Louis has pushed the kickoff up to 11 a.m. The Peacocks will host their first home game against McKendree (Ill.) (1-3, 0-1 GLVC) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Upper Iowa lost 1-0 to No. 22 Missouri S&T (3-0, 1-0 GLVC) this past Friday. During the 38th minute, S&T's forward Kellen Douglas scored the games lone goal to the top center of the net.

Forward Sebastian Camargo took three shots, with one on goal for the Peacocks. Defender Arnas Kurakinas and midfielder Matas Dumalakas each recorded a shot. Goalkeeper Noah Nymark-Pedersen had three saves. 

STATISTICAL LEADERS
Timur Nagy has a team-high one goal and team-high two points. Camargo leads UIU with four shots. Forward Nahum Ghyslain Wellot Samba has a team-most two shots on goal. 

Nymark-Pedersen has the most saves with 12 and a save percentage of 85.7%. His save percentage ranks third in the GLVC, while his number of saves ranks fourth. He has also allowed the fifth-fewest goals in the conference with two. 

AROUND THE GLVC
Missouri S&T is the only team with an undefeated overall record. Drury (Mo.) (3-1, 1-0 GLVC), Lewis (Ill.) (2-1, 1-0 GLVC), Quincy (2-1-1, 1-0 GLVC) and Rockhurst (Mo.) (2-2, 1-0 GLVC) all won their first conference game. 

Leo Cann of Quincy and Jacob Pangos of Truman St (Mo.) (1-2, 0-1 GLVC) lead the GLVC in goals scored with four. Cann also leads the league in shots with 19 and shots on goal with 10. Gilberti Felipe of Southwest Baptist (Mo.) (2-0-1, 0-0-1 GLVC) has the conference-most three assists. Asgrimur Vidisson of Maryville (Mo.) (2-2) has a GLVC-best 18 saves. 

Southwest Baptist boasts a conference-high 81 shots, with 42 on goal. The team also leads the league in goals with 17 and assists with 13. William Jewell (Mo.) (0-3, 0-1 GLVC) has a GLVC-most 19 saves.

ABOUT THE TRITONS
Missouri-St. Louis lost to Roosevelt (2-0-2) on Wednesday, 2-0. UMSL then drew with Southwest Baptist, 2-2, last Saturday. 

Midfielder Benjamin Ocampo, forward Brady Freeman, and midfielder Mario Garcia each have one goal. Ocampo and back Gibson Hunt each have an assist. Ocampo also leads the team in shots with 10 and in points with three. 

Goalkeepers Will Meyer, Lucas Ortiz and Will Winkler each played a game. Meyer has yet to allow a goal. Ortiz leads the team with two saves. 

Head coach Josh Alderson is in his fourth year. He has an overall record of 17-21-15. 

ABOUT THE BEARCATS 
McKendree picked up its first win of the season against Cedarville (Ohio) (0-3-1), 2-0, before falling to Quincy, 2-0. The Bearcats travel to Missouri on Wednesday to take on Lincoln (Mo.) (1-0-2, 0-0-1 GLVC). 

Forward Morgan Dance, midfielder Stevie Jones and forward Fredrik Thulin have all scored a goal. Thulin and forward Santiago Brisco both lead the team in shots with six, while Jones leads the team in shots on goal with four. Dylan Gloviak, Lenny Dupouyet and Alonso Romero each have an assist.  

Goalkeeper Filip Borka boasts 14 saves on the season. The Prague, Czech Republic native also nets a save percentage of 73.7%

Scott Gyllenborg is in his 10th year as head coach. He has an overall record of 83-52-34 with McKendree. 

UP NEXT
UIU hosts Lincoln on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 2:30 p.m. The Peacocks then play William Jewell on the road on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 12 p.m.
