INDIANAPOLIS - Upper Iowa's Zamar Wise picked up this season's first GLVC Offensive Player of the Week award for football. The Peacock quarterback totaled 279 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns in UIU's 30-13 win over Jamestown (N.D.) on Saturday.
He becomes UIU's first GLVC Player of the Week since Nov. 3, 2025, when Darryl Overstreet Jr., Shaquille Roman and Nathan Behne swept the weekly rewards after a 57-7 win against McKendree. UIU totaled seven GLVC Players of the Week last season.
Wise ran for a team-high 119 yards and two touchdowns on 17 rushes, averaging seven yards per carry. He was 11-of-24 with 160 yards and two touchdowns through the air. He completed touchdown passes to LJ Nyenow Jr. and Merv Amazan.Â
The Peacocks continue nonconference action this week in Joplin, Missouri, against Missouri Southern (0-1) on Saturday, Sept. 5. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Fred G. Hughes Stadium.Â
