FAYETTE, Iowa - The Peacock men's wrestling team (6-5, 4-1 GLVC) won its third-straight dual on Senior Night with a 38-7 win over Drury (Mo.) (2-11, 0-5 GLVC). The Peacocks honored seniors Hunter Bye, Ethen Doty, Reily Dolan and Lucas Henderson before the matchup.
Doty (149) and Griffin Luke (174) each finished undefeated at 5-0 in GLVC action after picking up wins. Doty, ranked No. 8 in the NWCA, found himself down 7-0 early after a takedown and a four-point nearfall by Drury's Mason Knight. Doty battled out of Knight's lock to get a reversal and the pin at 2:00 for a win via fall.
Luke's match came down to the wire at 174 against Jeremiah Halter. Tied at 0-0 entering the third period, Luke recorded an early escape for the lead. Halter then got a takedown, but Luke found a way to escape. The Peacock redshirt sophomore found a way to get the last takedown with five seconds left in the match to win, 5-3.
Preston Klostermann (157) recorded the quickest fall of the night, defeating Joe Beck at 1:00. Matthew Marcum (197) recorded four takedowns and a near fall for a 16-3 lead before winning by fall at 1:58. No. 15 Braxten Westendorf (184) recorded the lone tech fall of the night to start the match, totaling five takedowns to win, 18-3, at 4:23.
Dolan (165) won the closest match of the night. The senior took an early 3-0 lead with a takedown in the first. Drury's Gaven Bremenkamp responded with an escape and a takedown in the second period to lead, 4-3. Dolan then got the takedown with 30 seconds left and won, 6-5, after a Bremenkamp escape.
Dawson Schmit (133) won in a 6-1 decision after getting an early takedown. He added an escape in the second, a point off of two stall calls in the third and a point on riding time. Treyton Ackman (125) won via forfeit.
Bye (285) fell by major decision to Brady Griffin in the heavyweight match. Tanner Arjes (141) lost to Nathan Wishne, 6-3, dropping Arjes to 4-1 in GLVC action. Jose Del Toro (285) competed in an extra match against Wade Stanton, with Stanton scoring four points in the final period to win, 5-1.
The Peacocks are now 14-2 in GLVC regular-season action since joining the conference in 2023-24. Upper Iowa will now prepare for the GLVC Championships on Feb. 15 in Quincy, Illinois.
