Peacock women’s soccer hits the road to face Quincy and Truman State

Upper Iowa faces Hawks on Friday evening and Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.

FAYETTE, Iowa - The Peacock women's soccer team (2-2-2, 0-1-1 GLVC) returns to action this weekend against Quincy (Ill.) (3-1-2, 2-0-1 GLVC) on Friday, Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. and Truman State (Mo.) (1-2-2, 1-1-1 GLVC) on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 2:30 p.m. This will be the team's first weekend this season with two road games.

LAST TIME OUT
Upper Iowa tied with UIndy (0-3-2, 0-2-1 GLVC) this past Friday and lost to Lewis (Ill.) (2-0-3, 1-0-1 GLVC) on Sunday. Giovanna Alexa Garcia scored UIU's lone goal in the 1-1 tie with the Greyhounds. 

Alex Garcia had a team-high three shots in the game, with the final two coming in the last few minutes of play. She scored the goal after an errant UIndy pass in the 40th minute. Freshman goalkeeper Sienna Johnson made 11 saves combined between the two games. 

STATISTICAL LEADERS
Freshman Rhea Buchanan and junior Haylie Hutchinson lead the team with four points each. Buchanan has a team-high two goals, while Hutchinson has one goal and a team-high two assists. In the GLVC, Hutchinson is tied for fourth in assists, and Buchanan is tied for 10th in goals. 

Johnson's totaled 32 saves this season with a save percentage of 80%. She's also recorded three shutouts. Johnson is second in the conference in total saves and tied for first in shutouts. Her save percentage ranks sixth in the GLVC. 

AROUND THE GLVC
No. 11 Maryville (5-0-1, 3-0 GLVC) moved up three spots in this week's United Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll. The Saints picked up wins over William Jewell (Mo.) (0-4-2, 0-2-1 GLVC) and Rockhurst (Mo.) (1-3-2, 0-2-1 GLVC) this past weekend.

Drury (Mo.) (3-1-1, 2-0-1 GLVC), McKendree (Ill.) (2-0-4, 2-0-1 GLVC), Quincy (3-1-2, 2-0-1 GLVC) and Missouri St. Louis (3-2-1, 2-0-1 GLVC) are in a four-way tie for second place. Lewis (2-0-3, 1-0-1 GLVC) is in sixth place.

ABOUT THE HAWKS - Friday at 5 p.m.
Quincy enters Friday's game after picking up victories over Illinois Springfield and UIndy this past weekend. The Hawks lost their opener to Purdue Northwest (Ind.) on Sept. 4 and have won or tied every game since.

Junior Rebecca Rheinheimer has scored four goals this season, and senior Ella Wolfard has scored three. Both of them have two assists. Rheinheimer is in a four-way tie for the most goals in the GLVC this season. Junior Jessie Newton leads the Hawks in assists with three. 

Freshman Devin Tracy has started all six games for the Hawks. She's made 12 saves this season and has allowed four goals. Tracy has posted three shutouts this season. 

Head coach Taylor Reis is in his first season as the head coach of the women's soccer team. He spent the previous six seasons as the assistant men's soccer coach for Quincy. 

ABOUT THE BULLDOGS - Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Truman State lost by one goal to McKendree and tied with Illinois Springfield this past weekend. The Bulldogs' lone win this season was a 3-2 victory over UIndy on Sept. 14. 

Freshman Madison Blomenkamp and junior Lia Quintero lead Truman State in goals this season with two each. Quinn Nauman has scored a goal and added an assist during her junior season. Naumann leads the team in shots with 10. 

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Siman Loethen has started all five games for the Bulldogs. She's allowed eight goals and made 12 saves for a 60% save percentage. 

Head coach Mike Cannon is in his 33rd season with the program. Entering this season, Cannon has coached 620 matches for the Bulldogs with 379 wins.
