FAYETTE, Iowa - The Peacock volleyball team (0-10) plays its first games in Dorman Memorial Gymnasium this weekend against Missouri S&T (2-9) and Maryville (Mo.) (4-6). Friday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m. is Mental Health Awareness Night (Green Out), and Saturday, Sept. 27, at 5 p.m. is the Peacocks in Paradise Homecoming Game.Â

LAST TIME OUT
The Peacocks competed this past weekend at the Truman State Invitational. Upper Iowa faced GLVC opponents William Jewell (Mo.) (1-10) and Rockhurst (Mo.) (7-4) in nonconference games. UIU fell in four sets to the Cardinals and three sets to the Hawks.
Graduate Martha Pace led the team with 28 (4.0 per set) kills, including a career-high 16 kills against William Jewell. Lydia Imbrogno totaled 20 kills (4.0 per set) while Kailey Porter had 12 and Alexis Moses added 11.Â
Grace Fruzen led the Peacocks in assists with 59 (8.43 per set). Sophomore Morgan Block added 39 digs (5.57 per set) and tied her career high against Rockhurst with 21. Carley Jonker and Pace each tallied 26 digs.Â
STATISTICAL LEADERS
Block currently ranks second in the GLVC in digs per set, averaging 4.97. She's totaled 169 digs so far this season. She ranks 36th nationally in digs per set and 54th in total digs.Â
Pace leads the team in kills with 98, ranking 16th in the GLVC. Her kills per set average of 3.06 ranks 11th in the conference. Porter is the team's second-best attacker with 67 kills while Jonker has added 45.Â
Fruzen ranks 12th in the GLVC in total assists (198) and 10th in assists per set (5.82). Jaeden Cook has also totaled 105 assists this season. Pace has the team's second-most digs with 90, while Fruzen has added 72.Â
AROUND THE GLVC
Quincy (Ill.) (9-2) has the best record in the GLVC and has won six straight games. The Hawks competed this past weekend at Henderson State's (Ark.) Bettye Wallace Invitational. Quincy picked up a five-set win over Pittsburg State (Kan.) and three-set victories over Henderson State, Missouri Southern and Arkansas Tech.Â
UIndy (8-4) has the second-best record after going 2-2 against Florida competition this past weekend. Drury (Mo.), Missouri St.-Louis and Rockhurst are all 7-4, while Illinois Springfield is 6-4. Lewis (Ill.) also has a winning record at 6-5.Â
ABOUT THE MINERS - Friday at 6 p.m.
The Miners competed this past weekend at the Central Missouri Challenge, losing in straight sets to Ouachita Baptist (Ark.), No. 9 Washburn and Central Missouri. Missouri S&T has a four-set win over Christian Brothers (5-6) and a three-set win over Roosevelt (Ill.) (1-9) this season.
Freshman Elly Decker leads the attack with 87 kills (2.35 per set). Freshman Addie Schoenberger has added 73 kills, while junior Selin Ozdemir has 57 kills.Â
Elise Mehaffy is the team's setter with 228 assists (6.0 per set). She ranks ninth in the GLVC in assists per set. Decker leads the team in digs with 86, while sophomore Reese Massey has 82 this season.Â
Head coach Jacquie Cason is in her second season with the Miners. She has an 11-27 record with Missouri S&T entering this weekend.Â
ABOUT THE SAINTS - Saturday at 5 p.m.
Maryville went 2-1 this past weekend with wins over Northwest Missouri State and Illinois Springfield. The Saints lost to No. 4 Nebraska Kearney (12-0) in three sets this past weekend and have another ranked three-set loss earlier this season to No. 8 Southwest Minnesota State (8-1).Â
Ella Brinkmann has 121 kills (3.10 per set) during her senior campaign. The outside hitter ranks 10th in the GLVC in kills. Sophomore Emma Hoing is second on the team in kills with 69.Â
Sophomore Taylor Reynolds has 184 assists, and freshman Cami Kohmetcher has 126 assists. Senior Olivia Klump leads the team in digs with 189 (4.85 per set), which ranks third in the conference. Brinkmann has added 137 digs (3.51 per set), ranking ninth in the GLVC.Â
Head coach Gretchen Moser is in her eighth season coaching Maryville. She has a record of 83-123 during her time with the Saints. Maryville has had a winning record the past three seasons under her tenure.
