Upper Iowa met with Wisconsin-Parkside in Somers, Wis. where the Rangers were able to take game one by a score of 8-0 and game two in a hard-fought 3-2 decision.
Game One
Wisconsin-Parkside scored the opening run at the bottom of the first, and they followed that up by scoring five runs in the second. The Rangers were able to add two more runs in the fourth, where an RBI single to left center field sealed the 8-0 win.
The Peacocks recorded two hits as a team as they recorded a pair of singles.
Addyson Alber hit a single up the middle with two outs in the second inning, and
Serah Shafer recorded a single on a bunt to third in the fifth. Shafer would also add a stolen base in the third inning, as she made it to first base on an error.
Game Two
The Rangers led off the bottom of game two, by putting two runners on base with a single up the middle, and a hit by pitch. They jumped into the lead with an RBI single down the left field line, and closed out the inning with a 2-0 lead on an RBI groundout.
With two outs at the top of the third,
Serah Shafer hit a single out to deep left center field.
Taylor Sedam added a single down the left side, advancing Shafer to second base. Facing a 1-2 count,
Tristin Doster smacked a single through the right side, which brought Shafer home to cut the lead to 2-1.
Kylie Doty posted a single to second base on her first pitch in the fourth inning, before
Gezzelle Guardado followed that up with a single of her own. Faced with a full count and two outs,
Taylor Hamaker was walked to load the bases for Upper Iowa. After scoring the opening run, Shafer recorded an RBI single down the left field side, which tied the game at 2-2.
With the game still tied at the bottom of the fifth, Megan Medlin of Wisconsin-Parkside hit a go-ahead solo home run which would ultimately give the Rangers the 3-2 win.
The Peacocks will stay on the road as they take on the Griffons of Missouri Western State on Saturday, Apr. 19 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
