Upper Iowa men's basketball was defeated by Lincoln in a 72-65 decision in Fayette, shifting to 15-7 on the season and 9-5 in the GLVC.
The Peacocks held their largest lead of the game, 59-51, with just over five minutes left to play. The Blue Tigers outscored the home team 21-6 in the next five minutes to fuel their seven-point win. LU went 6-6 from the floor in that spurt, including 2-2 from long range, and 7-8 at the charity stripe. The Peacocks converted two field goals out of their eight attempts and went 2-3 at the foul line.
The Blue Tigers found their advantage on the glass, hauling in 13 offensive rebounds and notching 15 second-chance points compared to the Peacocks' five offensive boards and four second-chance points. LU outrebounded UIU 45-35 for the game.
The Peacocks rejected four shots in the contest.
Noah King led UIU in scoring with 18 points on 6-14 shooting.
Caleb Delzell followed behind with 16 points and went 6-8 from the floor with seven rebounds. He netted three triples in the first half to aid the Peacocks' offensive efforts.
Nick Reid finished with a double-double, recording 13 points and nabbing 10 rebounds.
Upper Iowa shot 40% from the floor (22-55), while Lincoln netted 39.4% (22-66) with 11 extra shot attempts. UIU converted 65% at the free throw line (17-26), and LU connected on 75% (15-20).
The Peacocks mustered 22% (4-18) from long range, and the Blue Tigers recorded a similar percentage with 23.8% (5-21).
Men's basketball is back home on Saturday against #5 Missouri S&T at 3 p.m.
