KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Peacock volleyball team (7-19, 5-8 GLVC) ended the 2025 season with a sweep over Truman State (Mo.) (12-16, 7-6 GLVC). Senior outside hitter Martha Pace totaled 16 kills in the three-set win (25-22, 25-20, 25-20).
Pace finished the match hitting .261 while also adding nine digs and a block. Lydia Imbrogno and Reese Martin were on fire from the service line, totaling five and three aces, respectively. McKenna Diermeier rounded out the senior standout performances with 14 digs.
Kailey Porter tallied the second-most kills with eight while having the best hitting percentage on the team at .316. Imbrogno added six kills along with 15 digs and three blocks. Alexis Moses had four kills and five blocks (one solo).
Sophomore setter Grace Fruzen totaled 31 assists, marking her ninth match this season with 30 or more assists. She also had eight digs. Libero Morgan Block added a team-high 23 digs with two service aces.
Trailing 9-8 in the first set, the Peacocks got a kill from Pace to spark a 5-0 run. Two Truman State attack errors and two Block service aces gave UIU the 13-9 advantage. Truman then battled back to tie the set at 14-14, and later trailed, 18-17.
After a Bulldog service error, two kills by Pace and a kill by Moses stretched the lead to 22-17. The Bulldogs battled back to cut the lead to 23-22, but a service error and an attack error gave the Peacocks the opening set.
Two early Imbrogno service aces helped UIU jump out to a 5-1 advantage in set two, but TSU cut it down to 9-6. After that, the Peacocks scored 10 out of the next 12 points for the 19-8 lead, featuring two more Imbrogno aces at the end of the run. Truman State battled back, but the Peacocks held on, 25-20.
Truman State got up 9-7 in the first set, but an 8-1 Peacock run took a 15-10 lead. During the run, Imbrogno had two kills and a service ace while Pace added two kills as well. The Bulldogs battled back to take a 20-19 advantage.
The Peacocks then scored the final six points of the match. Martin came alive from the service line, totaling three aces, including back-to-back aces to win it. Imbrogno and Porter also blocked two Autumn Erickson attacks during the run that won the set, 25-20.
Erickson led Truman State with 16 kills while Makayla Way and Laci Neece each had six. Tori Creason totaled 38 assists while Addy Janssen led in digs with 17.
Upper Iowa dominated from the service line, 10-2, and at the net with blocks, 9-4. The Peacocks had 35 kills compared to 44 for the Bulldogs. Truman State out-assisted UIU, 44-32. The Peacocks hit .177 while the Bulldogs hit .156.
