Peacock volleyball prepares for final home games in Dorman Gymnasium

UIU hosts Drury for Senior Night on Friday; faces Southwest Baptist after football on Saturday

FAYETTE, Iowa - Upper Iowa volleyball (5-16, 3-5 GLVC) concludes its home schedule against Drury (Mo.) (13-9, 3-4 GLVC) and Southwest Baptist (Mo.) (8-14, 1-6 GLVC) this weekend. The game against Drury on Friday will be a whiteout and Senior Night for the Peacocks.

The Peacocks are scheduled for first serve at 6 p.m. on Friday against the Panthers. UIU then plays Southwest Baptist at 3 p.m. on Saturday for the final game in Dorman Memorial Gymnasium.

If you want to pay in person, both Harms-Eischeid Stadium and Dorman Memorial Gymnasium are now accepting all major credit cards, checks and cash.

SENIOR NIGHT
Upper Iowa will honor seniors McKenna Diermeier, Martha Pace, Lydia Imbrogno and Reese Martin after the match against the Panthers on Saturday night. 

LAST TIME OUT
The Peacocks went 1-1 this past weekend with a four-set win over William Jewell (Mo.) (4-17, 0-7 GLVC) and a loss to Rockhurst (Mo.) (16-7, 7-0 GLVC). Pace totaled 39 kills (5.57 per set) and hit .237, while Grace Fruzen added 82 assists (11.71 per set) and 25 digs on the weekend. 

Pace totaled a career-high 29 kills and hit .317 in the four-set win over the Cardinals. Her best set was the fourth, where she totaled eight kills and hit .412. This surpassed her previous career-high of 17 kills. 

Fruzen recorded 53 assists and 20 digs, both marking career highs for the sophomore setter. The assist total tied her career-high from the McKendree match on Oct. 11. She also added two blocks and two service aces in the match.

The Peacocks had 67 kills as a team, marking the most in a match for Upper Iowa since Oct. 26, 2022. UIU finished the match with a .178 hitting percentage as a team. 

STATISTICAL LEADERS
Pace leads the attack for the Peacocks with 210 kills (3.50 per set). She ranks sixth in the GLVC in kills per set and 14th in total kills. In GLVC play only, she ranks fifth in both those marks with 112 kills (4.0 per set). 

Kailey Porter is second on the team with 163 kills (2.30 per set). Imbrogno is third on the team with 117 kills. Alexis Moses passed triple digits in kills this past weekend at 102. Moses also leads the team in blocks with 49. 

Fruzen leads the team with 571 assists (7.93 per set). She ranks fifth in the conference in total assists and assists per set. In GLVC play, she's averaging 275 assists (9.82 per set), which ranks third in the conference in both marks. 

Sophomore libero Morgan Block has totaled 308 digs (5.28 per set) this season. She's second in the GLVC and 17th nationally in digs per set. She ranks fourth in the GLVC in total digs. In conference play, she ranks second in both digs and digs per set. 

Fruzen is now second on the team in digs with 185 (2.57 per set). Imbrogno has totaled 182 digs (2.76 per set), Pace has 148 digs and Carley Jonker has 120 digs. 

AROUND THE GLVC
Missouri-St. Louis (18-4, 8-0 GLVC) and Rockhurst (16-7, 7-0 GLVC) remain unbeaten in GLVC play. The Tritons have won 11 straight games and received 27 votes in this week's AVCA poll. UMSL had the third-most votes of an unranked team in the poll. 

UIndy (16-7, 6-1 GLVC) is in third, and Quincy (Ill.) (17-5, 6-2 GLVC) is in fourth. After that, Maryville (Mo.) (11-10, 4-3 GLVC) is in fifth, Truman State (Mo.) (9-14, 4-4 GLVC) is in sixth, while Drury and Lewis (12-10, 3-4 GLVC) are tied in seventh. 

The Peacocks are tied in ninth place with Illinois Springfield (11-10, 3-5 GLVC) and McKendree (5-17, 3-5 GLVC). The top eight teams in the conference standings make the GLVC Tournament on Nov. 21-23. 

ABOUT THE PANTHERS - Friday at 6 p.m.
Drury lost in four sets to Quincy and in five sets to Illinois Springfield this past weekend. Before those two matches, the Panthers had won six of their last eight matches. 

Senior outside hitter Ella Rademaker leads the Panthers with 274 kills (3.34 per set). She's sixth in total kills and 11th in kills per set in the GLVC. In tandem with her is senior outside hitter Mailie Chretien, totaling 214 kills (2.74 per set). Chretien ranks 12th in total kills and 16th in kills per set in the conference. 

Junior Lauren Tyler has 488 assists (5.74 per set), and sophomore Jacy Bray has 347 assists (4.75 per set) for the Panthers. Tyler ranks 10th in the GLVC in assists per set and ninth in total assists. 

Sophomore Kim Quinit leads the team in digs with 252 (3.32 per set). Cretien is second on the team in digs with 210 (2.69 per set).

Jenifer Bahner-Hill is in her 12th season with Drury. She is the second-winningest head coach in program history with a 170-150 record.

ABOUT THE BEARCATS - Saturday at 3 p.m.
Southwest Baptist had a four-game win streak snapped this past weekend with a four-set loss to Illinois Springfield and a three-set loss to Quincy. The Bearcats only lost one set and went 3-0 at the Midwest Crossover the weekend prior.

Freshman outside hitter Gabriela Dupree is the top attacker with 282 kills (3.62 per set). She ranks fifth in the GLVC in kills per set and fourth in total kills. She's also added 207 digs (2.65 per set), which is the second-most on the team. 

The Bearcats run a two-setter system, with senior Katie Pogue totaling 367 assists (4.71 per set) and freshman Allie Haw totaling 302 assists (4.14 per set). Freshman Chloe Chafins is another young team leader, totaling a team-high 285 digs (3.70 per set). In the GLVC, she is eighth in digs per set and 10th in total digs. 

Head coach James Hanger is in his sixth season with Southwest Baptist. He has a 64-90 record with the Bearcats.
