UIU women’s soccer hosts Miners for Senior Night on Friday; face Blue Tigers on Sunday at Harms Family Field

Peacocks honoring Allen, Hatico, Kehano, Lima and Wagner for Senior Night

FAYETTE, Iowa - The Upper Iowa women's soccer team (3-7-2, 1-6-1 GLVC) returns home for action against Missouri S&T (5-5-1, 3-4-1 GLVC) for Senior Night on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. The Peacocks then host Lincoln (Mo.) (0-6-3, 0-6-2 GLVC) on Sunday at noon.

SENIOR NIGHT
The Peacocks will honor Isabelle Wagner, Maile Kehano, Natalie Lima, Haylee Allen and Aeryn Hatico for senior night before Friday's matchup with the Miners. 

LAST TIME OUT
The Peacocks picked up their first GLVC win on Friday, Oct. 10, against Southwest Baptist (Mo.) (3-9-1, 1-7-1 GLVC), 2-1. Upper Iowa fell to Drury (Mo.) (6-2-3, 5-1-3 GLVC), 2-0, on Sunday, Oct. 12. 

UIU's two goals against Southwest Baptist came in the final 11 minutes of play. Myriah Roybal notched the first one on a free kick score. In the 86th minute, Giovanna Alexa Garcia put in her third goal of the season for the game-winner. Allen made a great play to bring the ball up the field on the goal, and Haylie Hutchinson found Alexa Garcia across the field to help set up the score. 

Avery Harding started in the net and picked up her first career win. She made six saves against the Bearcats. Harding also started Sunday's game, totaling 10 saves.

STATISTICAL LEADERS
Alexa Garcia's three goals lead the team and rank 18th in the GLVC. Allen and Rhea Buchanan have both scored two goals. Hutchinson is second on the team in points, with one goal and three assists. She is tied for eighth in the GLVC in assists. 

Myriah Roybal is the only Peacock to play every minute this season, totaling 1,080. Lima is second on the team with 1,035 minutes and Buchanan has played 1,005 minutes. 

Freshman Sienna Johnson has started six games at goalkeeper for the Peacocks. She has 26 saves this season and a 65% save percentage. Harding has played three games with two starts at goalkeeper. She's made 26 saves with an 83.9% save percentage. 

AROUND THE GLVC
Quincy (Ill.) (8-1-2, 7-0-1 GLVC) remains the only unbeaten team in conference action, totaling 22 points. McKendree (Ill.) (7-1-4, 7-1-1) is tied with Quincy at the top with 22 points. The top two teams play each other in the final game of the season on Nov. 2. 

Drury moved up to third this week with 18 points. Missouri-St. Louis (6-3-2, 5-1-2) is in fourth with 17 points. Maryville (Mo.) (6-1-4, 4-1-3 GLVC) and Lewis (Ill.) (5-1-5, 4-1-3 GLVC) are tied for fifth with 15 points. 

Maryville dropped out of the top 25 after being ranked No. 19 last week. The Saints fell, 4-1, this past weekend to McKendree. 

ABOUT THE MINERS - Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Missouri S&T enters this weekend's matchup after defeating UIndy (1-6-4, 1-5-3 GLVC), 4-1, this past Friday and losing to Lewis, 2-1, on Sunday. Sophomore Adriana Benassi had a hat trick in the win over the Greyhounds.

Benassi leads the team with eight goals and four assists, totaling 20 points. She is second in goals in the GLVC and 17th in the nation. She's tied for fifth in the conference in assists.

Sophomore Ella Kramer has one goal and three assists for a total of five points. Nathalie Bello has totaled two goals on the season. Bello is the only other Miner with multiple goals behind Benassi.

Senior goalkeeper Anastasia Barcom has started nine games at goalkeeper for Missouri S&T. She has totaled 38 saves and two shutouts. Barcom has an 83.6% save percentage, ranking fourth in the GLVC.

The Miners are coached by second-year head coach Matthew Perry. He has a 9-16-3 record entering this weekend with Missouri S&T.

ABOUT THE BLUE TIGERS - Sunday at noon
Lincoln snapped a five-game losing streak with a 0-0 tie against UIndy on Sunday, Oct. 12. The Blue Tigers have yet to win a game this season, but have two other ties against Harris Stowe (Mo.) and Southwest Baptist.

Senior forward Ivanna Faria leads the team in total points with six and in shots with 14. She has two goals and a team-high two assists. Sophomore Angelo Reynolds has two goals on nine shots for the Blue Tigers. Freshman Kayleb Garrett has also scored a goal. 

Senior goalkeeper Michelle Granja has 46 saves his season and one shutout. She has a save percentage of 67.6%.

Head coach Leah Stringer is in her second season as the head coach of the women's soccer program. She is the first head coach for the Lincoln women's soccer program, which started competition in 2024. The Blue Tigers are 5-19-3 in her two seasons leading the team.
