Men’s Wrestling to Maneuver Mustang Duals

THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK MEN'S WRESTLING
Peacock men's wrestling heads to Marshall, Minn. on Saturday for the Mustang Duals where they go head-to-head with three opponents. During the tournament, Upper Iowa will challenge Minot State (1:30 p.m.), UW Eau Claire (3 p.m.) and Southwest Minnesota State (4 p.m.) The Peacocks come into the weekend with a 6-3 overall record.

NWCA'S LATEST RANKINGS
Upper Iowa men's wrestling was listed 24th in the NWCA's latest rankings that were released on Dec. 23. The Peacocks boast three in the individual rankings: Lawson Losee (174) in 6th, Colter Bye (184) in 8th and Ethen Doty (149) in 11th. 
 
Peacock wrestling has featured over six first-time starters in a UIU singlet this season and received national respect after starting the 2024-25 campaign at 4-0
 
RECAP OF THE NWCA NATIONAL DUALS
Upper Iowa men's wrestling finished the NWCA National Duals in 10th place after the two-day tournament. The Peacocks knocked off two top-ten teams throughout the event, defeating Glenville State on day one and Tiffin on day two.
 
On day one, the Peacocks finished with a 1-2 record on Friday after facing three Top 12 teams ranked by the NWCA. In a standout performance, Upper Iowa pulled off the only first-round upset, defeating the second-ranked team in the nation and the #4 seed in the tournament, Glenville State, with a 20-14 victory.
 
On day two, UIU versed #9 Tiffin in the first dual on Saturday, defeating them by a score of 30-13. They then had a re-match with #2 Glenville State, and fell by a 28-19 decision.
 
MIKE OLSON ALUMNI DUAL
Calling all Peacock Wrestling Alumni! Our Wrestling Alumni Day is set for Feb. 2, 2025 when UIU faces Maryville at 2 p.m. Get registered for the event, which include a social in the VIP Suite with complimentary snacks and a cash bar at 12 p.m., by going to UIUPeacocks.com/MikeOlson25. All alumni in attendance will be recognized on the mat before the dual. 
 
EARLY PARTS OF THE CONFERENCE SCHEDULE
Each conference member has competed in one dual this season, with the bulk of the conference schedule to take place in the coming weeks. Upper Iowa, McKendree and Maryville each have one league win, while Quincy, Drury and Indianapolis are 0-1 to start. 
 
THE INS AND OUTS
Ethen Doty leads the team in wins with 20 behind a team-high nine falls and four tech falls. Trailing behind him in wins is Lawson Losee with 18, Ryan Wehner with 17 and Geoffery Freeman and Colter Bye with 16 each. Freeman has posted six falls on the season and four tech falls, while Losee has also recorded four wins by tech fall. Clayton Ours has notched four of his 15 wins by fall. Collectively, the entire team has amassed 303 wins, nine in sudden victory, 67 by fall, 48 by tech fall and 41 by major decision.
