The Indianapolis Greyhounds got the best of Upper Iowa as they won on their home floor by a score of 67-49.
UIndy got off to a very efficient start as they shot 47% in the first quarter, before one-upping themselves with 60% shooting in the second. The Peacocks struggled to find their rhythm as they were outscored by 18 points in the half, as they shot 26% from the field. The Greyhounds defensive presence resulted in 24 turnovers, which they were able to convert into 29 points. UIU was no slouch on the defensive side either, as they forced 16 turnovers as a team which led to 13 points, while
Anna Soler and
Sydnee Nelson each recorded steals.
The Peacocks added 16 points in the paint to the Greyhounds 36, and they would finish the game by shooting 46.6% from the field and 46.2% from three-point range (6-13). UIU shot 37% from the floor in the second half (10-27), and they were able to hold UIndy to just 25 points over the 20-minute span.
Kayla Bohr put up a team-high 12 points as she shot 4-7 from the floor and 2-4 from beyond the arc.
Mia Huberty scored 11 points on 4-8 shooting, while knocking down her lone three-point shot. She grabbed seven rebounds, which ranked second on the team to
Helen Staley's eight.
Ava Privet also recorded 11 points on 4-10 shooting while going 3-8 from three-point range.
The Peacocks will stay on the road as they go up against Truman State on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 5:15 p.m. and Quincy on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 1 p.m.
