Peacocks Look to Extend Unbeaten Streak

THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK WOMEN'S SOCCER… Upper Iowa heads to Missouri to take on Rockhurst on Friday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. and William Jewell on Sunday, Oct. 6 at noon.

MAKING A MARK… The Peacocks are coming off a homestand that concluded with consecutive 1-1 ties against Truman State and Quincy. They have garnered a 1-2-3 mark on the season and they are currently the 7th seed in the GLVC with a 1-1-2 conference record.
 
FRESHMEN PHENOMS… The class of 2028 has made an immediate impact for the Peacocks with Jordan Goldstein leading the charge. Goldstein ranks first amongst all freshman in the GLVC with seven points, which ranks her 8th overall. She leads UIU with two goals and is tied for most assists on the team with three. Samantha Most has garnered a team-high 521 minutes for field players, and she scored a goal with four shots on goal against TSU and dished out the game-tying assist against Quincy. Kaydence Bonneau scored the game winning goal against Quincy and she has appeared in all 90 minutes of action in three of the past four games. Daleina Egea and Myriah Roybal have also played bigger roles for UIU as both players have been added to the starting lineup, with Egea playing all 90 minutes in both games this past weekend. Mikalyn Hidde has started in all six games, and she scored a goal against Winona State.
 
HIGH-PERFORMING PEACOCKS… Sophomore Maile Kehano joins Goldstein in the three-assist club, with both players being tied for 5th in the GLVC with an average of .500 assists per game. She added a goal against Bemidji State and recorded three shots on target during UIU's past homestand. Sophomore Haylie Hutchinson scored a goal in the GLVC opener victory over Lewis and she dished out an assist vs. Winona State. Junior Nevaeh James has anchored the Peacocks midfield, appearing in all 90 minutes in five out of six games this year.
 
HIGH-SCORING HAWKS… Rockhurst has posted a 5-4 record with a 3-2 mark in the GLVC. They are currently on a three-game win streak and are coming off a 4-0 victory over Illinois Springfield and they have scored the fifth most goals in the conference. Junior Anna Lantz ranks third in the GLVC with six goals and she leads the entire conference with 18 shots on goal. She scored two goals against Missouri-St. Louis and put together a one-goal, one-assist performance against Sioux Falls. Freshman Julia Witt scored her first goal of the season against UIS and she is tied for sixth in the conference with three assists. She has started in all nine games this season and recorded assists in consecutive games against UMSL and Indianapolis. In the net, senior Taylor James has recorded a 70.0% save percentage with 28 saves and she has posted three shutouts on the season.

CHALLENGING THE CARDINALS… William Jewell have recorded a 2-6 mark, going 1-4 in conference action. Despite the fact that she missed two games, senior Clara Fronabarger has scored a team-high three goals which includes a two-goal performance against nationally-ranked McKendree. Junior Lux Sands has added two goals and she recorded both a goal and an assist in WJU's season opener against Newman. Junior Riley Frasure-Smith has recorded a team-high 577 minutes and she dished out an assist against McKendree. Senior keeper Emily Glassman ranks seventh in the GLVC with an average of 5.14 saves per game and she recorded a shutout victory in the team's victory over Newman.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS… UIU is back at Harms-Eischeid Stadium next weekend as they host Drury on Friday, Oct. 11 at 5 p.m. and Southwest Baptist on Sunday, Oct. 13 at noon.
