Winona State Repeats 3-0 Rally Over Upper Iowa

The Winona State Warriors took Prochaska Court on Saturday afternoon and defeated Upper Iowa by score of 3-0 for the second time this season. The Warriors improved to 8-4 (1-0 NSIC) while the Peacocks shifted to 5-6 overall on the season. 
 
WSU trumped UIU by scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-23. 
 
Zoe Semelroth led the way in kills with 13, followed by Alexis Moses with seven. Nicole Pozorski tallied 30 assists and McKenna Diermeier collected 12 digs. 
 
The Peacocks recorded a .294 hitting percentage and the Warriors compiled a .343. Both teams saw their best hitting percentage in set three, as the home team hit .447 and the visitors tallied a .343.
 
Pozorski tallied a .750 hitting percentage and adding six kills. Maria Winter also contributed six kills behind a .600 percentage at the net. 
 
The Warriors went on a 6-1 run in the middle of the opening segment to command a 12-6 lead. They later jumped out to a 23-15 advantage to breeze to a victory in set one. 
 
Set three was a closer match, as the teams went back and forth in scoring. It was Upper Iowa who led 21-20 towards the end, but Winona State rattled off three points behind two kills and a UIU service error to lead 23-21. Upper Iowa tied the game up at 23 with two slams fom Semelroth, but the Warriors took advantage of another Peacock service error and put down a kill to end the match. 
 
The purple and white helda commanding lead again in the second frame, holding a eight-point advantage (14-6) over the Peacocks. UIU rallied back with five unanswered points to trail 15-12, but both teams exchanged points and the Warriors claimed set two 25-18. 
 
The Peacocks are back at home next weekend for their conference opener versus the Truman State Bulldogs. Game time is scheduled for Saturday, Sep. 28 at 3 p.m. in Dorman Memorial Gymnasium.
