The Peacocks were unable to conquer McKendree to end their road trip as the Bearcats picked up a pair of wins by a score of 8-0 and 12-2.
Game One
The Bearcats put together a three run first inning, highlighted by an RBI double down the left field line. They added another two runs in the bottom of the second, taking advantage of a passed ball before hitting an RBI single to shortstop.
McKendree was able to push their lead to eight by the bottom of the fourth on an RBI double and a two-run homer. The Peacocks were able to force a ground out double play to close out the fourth, but McKendree pitcher, Ellie Quaethem was able to retire the side in the fifth, pitching a no hitter as the game ended in five innings.
Delaney Vetter and
Kylie Doty each struck out one batter on the day.
Game Two
Serah Shafer opened game two hitting a single out to center field with one out. With the Peacocks down 3-0 to start the second,
Kylie Doty hit a single to right field on the first pitch of the inning.
Taylor Sedam added a double out to right center and
McKenna Morris was able to load the bases on a fielder's choice.
Hannah Bridgewater picked up an RBI as she was walked to give the Peacocks their first run of the day.
Ari Charles recorded a single to left field which brought Sedam home to make it a 2-3 game.
McKendree opened the second with a double out to left center and added a run on a ground out to third. They were able to push their lead to three as they capitalized on a passed ball to make it a 5-2 game. The Bearcats were able to ice the game in the top of the fourth inning, where they recorded seven runs on six hits, extended the lead to 12-2.
Shafer and
Laila Pelds each hit singles in the top of the fifth, but the Peacocks were unable to add any more runs as game two came to an end in five innings.
The Peacocks will return to Fayette for their final two home games of the season against UIndy on Friday, Apr. 19 and Lewis on Sunday, Apr. 21. Both double headers will begin at 12 and 2 p.m.
