Upper Iowa has achieved a 79-77 victory, in a thrilling comeback on the road against the Indianapolis Greyhounds.
Brooke Evenson opened the Peacocks scoring with a three pointer, and back-to-back
Katie Tornstrom fadeaway jumpers gave the Peacocks an early 7-3 lead.
Kayla Bohr converted on consecutive layups for UIU in a 30-second span, but the Greyhounds were able to score 11 points in a row, taking a 20-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Peacocks caught fire to start the second quarter with
Alaina Brenning cashing two three pointers in a row, before Evenson swished her second three pointer of the game. UIU was also able to capitalize on their free throw attempts as Bohr converted an and-one layup, and Brenning made both of her free throws when she was sent to the line. A Brenning layup gave her ten points in the second quarter, where she scored half of the team's points. After missing the Peacocks previous six games with an injury,
Ava Privet converted on UIU's sixth three of the game, before a Tornstrom two-pointer capped off an 11-6 run to end the half.
The Peacocks entered the third quarter facing a 41-34 deficit, and they were able to make it a three-point game on a pair of Evenson free throws and a Tornstrom layup.
Mia Huberty thrived throughout the third, as she was able to attack the basket for three layups, which included her converting on an and one. The Greyhounds ended the quarter with a buzzer beating layup, giving them a 62-52 lead.
UIU opened the fourth quarter on a 10-4 run, highlighted by Evenson and
Amelia Valentino three pointers. After Indianapolis was able to knock down a pair of free throws to push their lead to six, Bohr converted on back-to-back layups, to make it a two-point game. Following a Greyhound three pointer, Evenson made three free throws and Bohr scored her 17
th point of the game from beyond the arc, to reduce the Greyhounds lead to 75-72. Evenson would get fouled with just a minute remaining, and she swished both of her free throws to become the 14
th Peacock to score 1,000 career points.
Down by three, Bohr threw a cross court pass to Huberty who swished a three pointer from the corner which tied the game at 77 apiece with 28 seconds remaining. The Greyhounds drove to the hoop looking to take the lead, but Tornstrom stepped in and took the biggest charge of the season, which put the ball back in UIU's hands with 21 seconds remaining. With the game on the line, Huberty attacked the basket, pulled up for a midrange jumper, and knocked down the contested game winner to give the Peacocks a 79-77 victory.
Brooke Evenson scored a season-high 22 points on her historic day, shooting 3-5 from beyond the arc and 9-10 at the free throw line. Evenson added three rebounds and three assists, while also recording a block and a steal. She has scored exactly 1,000 points in her collegiate career and is only six points away from surpassing her season-high.

After surpassing her season-high during the Peacocks last game against McKendree,
Kayla Bohr set another season-high scoring mark with 17 points on 7-10 shooting. Bohr also knocked down a clutch three pointer in the fourth quarter and finished the game with six rebounds and two steals.
Mia Huberty's game winner gave her 14 points on 6-11 shooting. She added four rebounds and tied for most assists on the team with six.
Katie Tornstrom finished with 10 points on 5-12 shooting, and she tied Huberty with six assists. She also recorded a team-high eight rebounds and added two steals and a block.
Alaina Brenning also scored her season-high, finishing with ten points as she shot 2-4 from beyond the arc and hauled in six rebounds.
The Peacocks look to add to their win total, as they travel to Romeoville, Ill. to take on the Lewis Flyers. The game will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 1 p.m.
