Upper Iowa men's basketball nabbed its first GLVC win of the season as they defeated Quincy in a 93-67 decision. The Peacocks improved to 6-1 on the season and 1-0 in the GLVC, while the Hawks fell to 3-4 and 0-1 in league play.

UIU propelled to its decisive victory with 22 unanswered points in the first half. The two teams were tied 24-24 with 8:47 in the opening session when the Peacocks strung together a 22-0 run, fueled by two three-pointers from
Austin Hilmer and
Caleb Delzell.Â

The Hawks snapped the streak with 2:47 remaining, and their layup at the rim brought them to a 20-point deficit, 46-26. The Peacocks led 46-31 at the conclusion of the first half.Â

The home squad put together a 12-2 in the second half to lead 69-32. The Hawks put together a scoring spree several minutes later when they strung together a 14-3 run to trail 74-58 with 7:34 left to play.Â

The Peacocks saw a 15-2 run to extend their lead and seal the game with a comfortable advantage.Â

UIU assisted on 25 of its 37 shots and netted 52% (37-71) from the floor while shooting 35% beyond the arc.Â

Nick Reid led the team with 21 points on 8-13 shooting and added nine rebounds. Delzell notched 16 points while going 4-6 beyond the arc while recording three blocks.
Noah King contributed 15 points, while Hrncir and
Jack Miller each had ten. Hrncir dished out a team-high six assists.Â

Later this week, the Peacocks travel to Missouri S&T to challenge the Miners on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., followed by a contest with GLVC newcomer Lincoln on Saturday at 3 p.m.
