The Peacocks closed out November in a hard-fought loss to the Roosevelt Lakers by a score of 73-67.

Helen Staley got off to a hot start as she scored eight of UIU's first ten points, highlighted by back-to-back mid-range jumpers. The Lakers were able to thrive from the three-point line in the first quarter, shooting 4-5 as Alexia Lohman and Jayla Turchin each knocked down two shots from beyond the arc to push them into a 19-15 lead.
Staley opened the second quarter by converting on another jump shot and senior
Mia Huberty added an and one layup to cut the lead to one. She followed that up by making a three pointer and she propelled the Peacocks into a 29-27 lead after making consecutive layups.
Huberty knocked down another three point bucket to start the second half, and Staley recorded a fastbreak layup to extend the lead to 36-30. Sophomore
Ava Privet added a three-pointer at the 7:34 mark before Huberty converted another jumpshot in the paint. The Lakers were able to cut into the lead after getting a couple of defensive stops, before a steal and fast break layup made it a three-point game. The Peacocks responded with sophomore

Kayla Bohr each scoring in the paint on consecutive possessions, but Roosevelt would end the third on a 7-0 run, where they scored a layup as time expired to take a 51-50 lead.
The Lakers continued to excel from the three-point line in the fourth as they extended their lead to 63-54 with 5:24 remaining. Both teams continued to trade baskets and a pair of Huberty free throws cut the lead to seven with a minute remaining. Redshirt-sophomore
Abbie Riederer swished a three pointer with 39 seconds remaining, but the Lakers were able to capitalize on their free throws to secure the 73-67 win.
Mia Huberty tied her career-high with 29 points on a sensational 11-14 shooting while converting both of her three-point attempts. She hauled in six rebounds and added a steal while playing all 40 minutes of action for the second game in a row.
Helen Staley surpassed her career-high with 18 points on 9-14 shooting in 33 minutes of action. She led the Peacocks with eight rebounds while also dishing out a team-high five assists.
Upper Iowa will tip off GLVC action as they host Quincy on Monday, Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. They will then partake in consecutive road games against Missouri S&T on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m. and Lincoln on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 1 pm.
