LAST WEEK IN REVIEW
Peacock football put together an unwavering resilience in combination with 21 points in the fourth quarter to overtake the Bearcats in a 28-24 decision last Saturday. The win over McKendree marked Upper Iowa's first winning season since 2017 when they went 6-5 in the NSIC.

"This team is figuring out how to win," said Head Coach Jason Hoskins. "Winning is a learned trait, just like any other skill we teach them. We were down ten points with 12 minutes to play against a good football team, and we just didn't waver. We just kept playing our style of football and made the necessary plays. I'm proud of them for that."

OVERSTREET EARNS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Darryl Oversteet Jr. was named the GLVC's Offensive Player of the Week following the team's 28-24 win at McKendree last Saturday. He has clinched the award for the second time this season and is Upper Iowa football's fourth selection in the 2024 campaign.

The quarterback totaled 231 yds (24-33) against the Bearcats and threw three touchdowns. He scored the winning touchdown with 20 seconds remaining in the game on a two-yard rush into the McKendree end zone.

UNDEFEATED IN GLVC ROAD PLAY
The Peacocks went undefeated on the road in GLVC play this season (4-0) after going 0-5 in 2023. Most of their road successes were fueled by high-scoring fourth quarters in come-from-behind victories. They started by downing Southwest Baptist 21-7 after heading into the fourth period down 7-0. They then tackled Quincy 29-27 after trailing 20-7 heading into the final quarter. Next, they downed Lincoln 31-3 before trumping McKendree 28-24 with 21 fourth-quarter points. During the season, the Peacocks scored 81 points in the fourth quarter.

LEAGUE STANDINGS
Indianapolis was crowned the GLVC Champion last weekend after their win over Missouri S&T saw them improve to a flawless 7-0 record, unable to be caught by any league members with only one week of play remaining. Upper Iowa and Truman State are tied for second at 5-2 in the GLVC, followed by Quincy at 5-3 who has completed the conference portion of their schedule. McKendree is fifth at 4-3 and Missouri S&T sixth at 3-4. The standings are rounded out with William Jewell (2-5), Southwest Baptist (1-6) and Lincoln (0-7).

SCOUTING THE MINERS
Missouri S&T ranks sixth in the GLVC (3-4) and has an overall record of 4-6. The Miners are coming into this weekend on a two-game losing streak after falling to McKendree 27-20 and Indianapolis 55-10. In the two weeks prior, they picked up wins ocer William Jewell (49-28) and Lincoln (63-21). S&T ranks second in the league in scoring offense with 31.8 points per game, and second to last in scoring defense, allowing 33.4 points from their opponents each contest. CJ Wiggins leads the league in receiving yards with 731, and is second in yards per game with 73.1. Defensively, Carson Prenger is second in tackles with an average of 8.4 per game.
