GLVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK- JAYDEN MITCHELL
Peacock football's Jayden Mitchell was named GLVC Offensive Player of the Week following a 22-carry, 169-yard performance on the ground in UIU's 29-27 triumph over Quincy. He is Upper Iowa's third GLVC Player of the Week selection this season, following volleyball's Zoe Semelroth (9/16/24) and football's Ben Kamara (9/9/24).

The St. Louis, Mo. native recorded three of the team's four touchdowns and averaged 7.7 yards per rush in Upper Iowa's second GLVC victory this weekend. He also added 16 receiving yards and two receptions. Mitchell ranks fourth in the GLVC in rushing yards with 485 (97 YDS/G) and ninth in scoring (5.2 PTS/G).

AROUND THE CONFERENCE
Upper Iowa holds the highest mark in the GLVC at 2-0, while three teams follow behind at 1-0 in the league (Indianapolis, William Jewell and McKendree). Quincy sits fourth with two wins and one loss after surrendering to the Peacocks last weekend in a 29-27 decision.

FOURTH QUARTER FURY
The Peacocks have found a different gear in the final 15 minutes of their last two contests, surpassing both opponents for the come-from-behind win. UIU has racked up 43 fourth-quarter points in their previous two contests and has scored 50 of their 100 points on the season in the final period. They trailed Southwest Baptist 7-0 heading into the last frame and trumped them in a 21-7 final. Against Quincy last weekend, UIU was behind 20-7 and fired back with three touchdowns to edge the Hawks 29-27.

ON THE NATIONAL SCENE
Upper Iowa has made its way onto the national leaderboard in several categories early in the season. They rank third in the country in passes intercepted with nine, led by Zacrius Murray, Tyler Owen and Ben Kamara with two each. They sit in fifth place in interception returns for a touchdown after Murray and Kamara each nabbed a pick-six in the home opener versus Concordia, St. Paul.  UIU is tabbed fifth in defensive TDs with two and sixth in blocked kicks with three.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Truman State was voted second in the GLVC Preseason Coaches' Poll after finishing second in the conference last season with a 5-2 record. They dropped their only conference matchup to the preseason favorite #15 Indianapolis in a 41-37 decision. In the non-conference portion of the schedule, they came up short against the University of Findlay (37-21) and Saginaw Valley State (37-14) while picking up a 31-17 win last weekend against Wayne State (MI).

The Bulldogs lead the league in 3rd down conversions at 42.4% and second in 4th down conversions at 66.7% on six attempts. Quarterback Dylan Hair is second in the GLVC in total offense with 252.3 yards per game. Jackson Overton leads TSU in receiving yards with 56.25 per game on 18 receptions, recording three touchdowns. Denim Cook has tallied three rushing touchdowns and paces the team in 69.50 yards per game on the ground. Defensively, Jake McCollum leads the way in tackles with 26, followed by SJ Johnson and Brock Jones with 24.
