Upper Iowa volleyball came out on the wrong side of a five-set contest as they fell to Drury 3-2 in Springfield, Mo. on Saturday night. They shifted to 6-10 (1-3 GLVC) on the season as DU improved to 8-8 and 2-4 in the conference.
UIU came out strong as they took the first two sets in scores of 25-22 and 25-12 before the momentum shifted and Drury rattled off the following three sets 25-19, 25-19 and 15-7.
The Peacocks hit .194 at the net as a unit, and the Panthers mustered a .250.
Zoe Semelroth led the Peacocks with 23 kills and hit a .304 in the afternoon while adding a team-high of four blocks.
Nicole Pozorski led the team with four aces and dished out 48 assists, while
McKenna Diermeier tallied 29 digs.
"Losing five sets when we won the first two sets is tough," said Head Coach
Jim Dietz. "Now we get three days to prepare for the crossover and to take on other conference schools in Indiana."
Peacock volleyball will be back in action at the Midwest Crossover Oct. 18-19 with three matches in Hammond, Ind.
