LAST WEEK IN REVIEW
The Upper Iowa football squad squared off against Truman State last weekend, and the Bulldogs outlasted the Peacocks 26-23 in a close contest.

UIU concluded the third quarter with a slim 17-16 lead but allowed the Bulldogs to open the fourth frame with a field goal and later record a touchdown with 8:21 remaining, giving the guests the 26-17 advantage.Â

Koda Gates-Bridges brought Upper Iowa within three (26-23) with one minute remaining in the contest. However, there was not enough time for the Peacocks to regain the lead after Truman State recovered the onside kick.

Upper Iowa sits third in the GLVC at 2-1, trailing Quincy in second (3-1) and No. 21 Indianapolis in first (2-0). William Jewell, McKendree, Truman State and Missouri S&T are in a four-way tie for fourth place with a 1-1 record. Southwest Baptist (1-2) and Lincoln (0-4) round out the standings in eighth and ninth.Â

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
William Jewell (3-2, 1-1 GLVC) comes into the weekend after an overtime loss to the league's frontrunner, Indianapolis, in a 23-20 decision last Saturday. Their three wins this season have come against Fort Lewis College (35-20), Kentucky Wesleyan (23-16) and GLVC member Lincoln (48-20). They have dropped their two most recent contests to Davenport University (17-7), who is receiving votes in the latest AFCA Coaches Poll, and Indianapolis, currently ranked 21st in the nation.

The Cardinals rank fourth in the GLVC in offense (26.6 points per game) and second in defense, only allowing 19.2 points per contest. Defensively, they lead the league in forced fumbles with seven and sacks with 14. They rank first in both opponent 3
rd down conversions (25.8%) and opponent fourth down conversions (26.7%).

Running back Keaundre McCullough is tabbed eighth in the league in total offense and first in rushing yards. He has totaled 171.5 yards per game on offense, with 686 yards on the ground and nine touchdowns. His longest rush this season was 93 yards.Â
