The Peacocks have moved to 8-8 on the season, as they were unable to end the Rockhurst Hawk's undefeated season at home.
Upper Iowa quickly found themselves in a 9-0 hole, before
Katie Tornstrom scored the Peacocks first bucket of the game on a pull-up jumper.
Cassidy Pagel led the scoring effort in the first quarter, scoring six consecutive points, highlighted by an and-one layup near the three-minute mark.
The Peacocks had a bit of scoring drought to start the second quarter, which came to an end on an
Amelia Valentino three pointer.
Mia Huberty followed up the bucket with a layup and
Brooke Evenson got to the foul line, where she converted on both free throws. The Hawks ended the half on a 9-2 run, taking a 42-21 lead at the half. Turnovers and three-point shooting was the difference in the first half at UIU shot 1-10 from beyond the arc while the Hawks went 7-17. Huberty finished the half with six points, four rebounds and four assists while Evenson added another four points, eight rebounds and two steals.
Rockhurst was able to extend their lead to thirty by the halfway point in the third, taking a 53-23 lead. The Peacocks caught fire towards the end of the half, as Tornstrom converted on three consecutive three-point shots while Valentino also made her second three-pointer of the game. Their shooting helped cap a 12-5 run, before the Hawks responded with a pair of free throws. Tornstrom scored the final basket of the quarter, which once again came on a three-pointer, where she eclipsed 1,000 career points in her collegiate career.
Alaina Brenning converted on consecutive layups early into the fourth quarter, before
Cassidy Pagel scored on her second and-one basket of the game. The Peacocks were able to score the final six points of the game as Valentino swished her third three-pointer of the game and
Kayla Bohr scored an and-one layup with ten seconds remaining. Despite the solid fourth quarter effort, the Peacocks were unable to end Rockhurst's nine-game winning streak at home as the game ended with a score of 73-57.
Katie Tornstrom led all scorers on her historic day, scoring 14 points on 4-9 three-point shooting. Tornstrom scored 103 points as a freshman at MSU-Moorhead, and currently sits at 899 points with Upper Iowa.

Tornstrom has scored in double figures in 13 of UIU's 16 games this season, and has surpassed the 20-point mark seven times. She scored her season-high 29 points against Illinois Springfield and also put up 25 points on Southwest Baptist, and 24 points against Oklahoma Christian.
The Peacocks return home for their second meetings of the season with Missouri-St. Louis and McKendree. UIU takes on UMSL on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 5 p.m. and McKendree on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 1 p.m.
