The Peacock men's wrestling squad went head-to-head with GLVC foe Maryville and defeated them 31-7 at home. They improved to 5-4 (2-0 GLVC) on the season, while the Saints fell to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
Upper Iowa compiled eight wins on the night behind one fall, one major decision, five decisions one win by forfeit. The home team had the advantage in takedowns (13-5) and reversals (2-0), while the Saints edged out the Peacocks in escapes (13-6).
The dual began at the 125, where
Treyton Ackman kick-started the Peacocks in a big way as he trumped Sam Shafer by fall (5:46) to give Upper Iowa a 6-0 lead. Upper Iowa rallied off wins in the next seven matches, before falling in the 197 and 285 bouts.

James Davis came out on top in a close match against No. 12 Evan Binder as he executed a takedown and one escape to get the edge at 133 by decision (4-2).

Tate Murty won by decision over Kody Ketchum, giving the Peacocks the 9-0 advantage.
Ethen Doty (149) also entertained a tough-fought battle as he downed Collin Reif in a close decision (3-2).

Eric Faught the forfeit win.

Chase Luensman was victorious by major decision (18-7) over Cole Ritter. He recorded four takedowns in his match to help fuel his win.
Lawson Losee (174) and
Colter Bye (184) each trumped their opponents by decision (5-1) for the last Upper Iowa wins of the evening.
Bye was tied 1-1 with John Gholson, but executed a takedown toward the end of the match for an exciting finish to come out on top.
Raife Smart competed at 197 and fell to Jeramiah Larson by major decision.
Jordan Baumler (285) put up a good fight versus Ryan Herman, but could not quite edge out his opponent as Maryville was successful in the last bout of the day by decision.
The Peacocks are back on the mat Sunday in Dorman Gymnasium as they battle Drury on Sunday and 2 p.m.
