The Upper Iowa football program defeated Missouri S&T today for the first time in program history while earning their second straight win of the season. The home team edged out the visitors 38-26 after clawing back from a 13-0 deficit to start the game. The Peacocks improved to 2-1 on the season and the Miners dropped to 0-3.

After allowing their opponents to score two touchdowns within five minutes into the first quarter, Upper Iowa strung along 31 unanswered points. They scored four of their five touchdowns in the second quarter, added a field goal in the third and put up their last score of the night in the fourth.Â

Marcus Orr had a hand on each score of the afternoon, throwing a career-high five touchdown passes.Â

The defense stayed on their toes and produced clutch moments as
John Butsch,
Ben Kamara and
Tyler Owen each recorded an interception. Butch led the team with nine tackles this afternoon.

RJ Wells ran for a total of 66 yards and Monte Morrow accumulated 60 yards receiving.Â

UIU made their way onto the scoreboard nearly halfway into the second quarter with a 17-yard toss from Orr to
Eddie Burgess in the Miners' endzone. Their second score happened in similar fashion, this time to Morrow, putting the Peacocks up 14-13. Two more Peacock receivers got in on the action as both
Jayden Mitchell and Chandler Georg received touchdown passes from Orr in the second period. Upper Iowa led 28-13 going into halftime.Â

Thomas Forte converted a 47-yard field goal in the third quarter to open up scoring in the second half, Upper Iowa's second successful field goal of the season.Â

S&T scored their final touchdown in the fourth quarter to close the gap to 31-26 in favor of the home team. Upper Iowa brought out the dagger no more than a minute later on another Orr to Burgess connection in Miner territory, sealing the 38-26 victory.Â
