Upper Iowa traveled to Dubuque, Iowa for their final competition before the NSIC meet next weekend on May 13-14. The women were highlighted by a sixth place finish from
Jade Martin in the javelin (31.69m) and a seventh place mark from
Ashley Donovan, who finished the 800m run in 2:22.40. The men were highlighted by
Jaylen Hobson who earned a fourth place finish in the triple jump with a launch of 13.47m.
Gunner Meyer notched fifth place in the 110m hurdles in a time of 15.23
Behind the top finishers on the women's side, UIU competed heavily in the sprints and the field events, along with a few distance races.
Carolina Regalado started things off in the 100m dash and finished in a time of 13.22. Three Peacocks raced in the 200m dash: Martin (28.39),
Jillian Dodds (26.45) and
Leah Ries (29.25). Martin competed in the 400m dash and finished in 1:03.94, while
Mackenzie Rader completed the race in 1:04.70. Ries rounded out the sprints with an eighth place finish in the 100m hurdles (16.96).
Jadyn Schultz finished the 1500m in 5:23.91 and Victoria Caliendo was behind her with a time of 6:22.91.
Katie McEnery kicked things off in the field events in a height of 2.31.
Jamie Kerkvliet competed in three field events. She threw the discus 25.23m, hammer throw 32.54m and shot put 9.69m.
Behind the top finishers on the men's side, the Peacocks competed in a variety of events including relays, sprints, field events and long distance races. In the 4x100m relay,
Gunner Meyer, Jarrett Kruse,
Ethan Klemme and
Jaylen Hobson finished with a time of 44.36. Kruse competed in the 100m dash with a time of 11.55. In the 400m dash,
Marcus Holman crossed the finish line at 52.90 and Klemme completed the race in 53.42. Holman also participated in the 200m dash, finishing in 24.45.
Three Peacocks raced in the 800m run: Peytson Halverson (1:59.30),
Nathan Goranson (2:01.62) and
Dalton Baker (2:30.82).
Bryce Baker completed the 1500m run in 4:39.02, while his teammate
Chance Adam finished right behind him in 4:40.61.
David Snider raced in the 5000m run and crossed the finish line at 17.37.94.
Hobson added a sixth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.39m. Klemme leapt 1.84m in the high jump, earning a sixth place finish. Meyer was able to clear 1.79m. Brennan Matthews competed in three field events. He was tenth in discus (40.79m) while throwing 36.78m in the hammer throw and 12.63m in the shot put.
The UIU track and field team will send qualified participants to the Northern Sun Conference meet in Rochester, Minn. on May 13-14.
