Upper Iowa came up on the wrong end of two games at the University of Sioux Falls on Wednesday afternoon. The Cougars won game one 12-2 and then claimed a 20-0 win in game two to move ahead of the Peacocks in the standings. After the results, USF improved to 12-30 overall and 11-17 in NSIC games, while UIU fell to 15-26 overall and 11-18 in the conference.
Sioux Falls used a nine-run fifth inning to fuel their 12-2 win in game one, while holding the Peacock offense to two hits in the contest. Both hits were doubles and came in the second inning by
Victor Plaz and Sam Grushkin, who drove in both runs with the double.
USF's big inning came on just four hits and was aided by several Peacock miscues in the field.
Kyle Hrncir suffered the loss after allowing five runs, three were earned, in 4.1 innings while giving up five hits and grabbing three strikeouts.
Sam Marhefke struggled through the fifth inning allowing seven runs, five earned, on three hits and two hit batters.
Cole Wright threw a complete game with four strikeouts to get the win for the Cougars.
From start to finish, Sioux Falls controlled game two with a pair of runs in the first inning, five in the second, six in the fourth and seven more in the fifth inning. The Cougars tallied 14 hits highlighted by two doubles and three home runs in the game that was shortened to seven innings due to the NSIC run rule, while the Peacocks managed only five hits in the game.

Dylan McVeigh each had one hit apiece for the Peacocks; all five hits were singles.
Gabe Olson took the loss for UIU allowing seven runs, six earned in 1.2 innings, while
Isaiah Maes (2.1 IP) and
Braden Albert (0.1 IP) also struggled on the hill in their time on the field allowing six and seven runs, respectively.
Brennan Sefrit was the only pitcher to stymie the Cougar bats going 1.2 innings without allowing a run and only giving up one hit.
Cole Schumacher threw a complete game scattering five hits over his seven innings while striking out seven Peacocks.
Upper Iowa will host their final three games at Robertson Woods Field this season on Saturday and Sunday, Apr. 29-30. The Peacocks will welcome the Warriors of Winona State University to Fayette. UIU will honor their seniors after the double header on Saturday.
