The Peacock baseball team dropped a 13-1 decision (8 innings) in their series opener at Augustana on Saturday. Upper Iowa (14-22, 10-15 NSIC) and Augustana (30-15, 19-6 NSIC), the NSIC's top team, will get together on Sunday for a double header starting at 1 p.m.
Jarrett Ramer suffered the loss after throwing 6.1 innings and allowing seven runs, four of which were earned, on 11 his with two strikeouts.
Seth Miller got the win for the Vikings going 6.0 innings allowing one run while scattering five hits and setting down five Peacocks on strike.
Augie scratched the scoreboard first with a run in the third and two more in the fifth inning before UIU came to the plate in the top of the sixth.
Bryce Hall hit a home run in the sixth inning to bring the Peacocks within two runs, 3-1.
The home team scored an equalizing run in the bottom of the frame to retake their three-run advantage and then exploded for three runs in the seventh and six runs on the eighth. The final outburst was capped off by a grand slam from the bat of Jason Axelberg.
Ryan Hull was on base the time to lead the offense thanks to a pair of singles and a walk.
