The Upper Iowa track and field teams competed at the Norse invite hosted by Luther College. The women gathered 44 points and placed seventh, while the men accumulated 49 points and also placed seventh. The team gathered four first-place finishes to highlight their day in Decorah, Iowa.
On the women's side,
Carolina Regalado got things started in the 100m dash, as she ran a 13.37 and took eighth place. In other sprint events,
Leah Ries competed in the 100m hurdles and came in eighth place with a time of 17.12.
Mackenzie Rader ran the 400m in 1:03.26, taking ninth, just missing out on earning points for the team. The women were highlighted once again by
Kiana Maghanoy in the discus as she threw for 44.21m, taking first place and collecting ten points for the team. Maghanoy collected more points by taking third in the hammer throw (44.21m). In the other field events,Â
Jade Martin took seventh in the javelin (30.09m) while
Jamie Kerkvliet took ninth place in the shot put (9.46m).Â
The women put together a handful of relays in today's meet. They started off with a first place finish in the 1600m sprint medley (4:19.34). They went on to run the 4x100m relay and earned third place (51.28), while they finished off with the 4x200m relay (4:11.09) and took third.
The men tallied two first place finishes on the day, starting off with
Gunner Meyer's performance in the 110m hurdles. Meyer finished first with a time of 15.71, earning ten points for the Peacocks.
Alex Pitts was the only other individual who earned points in the sprints, running the 400m hurdles in 57.89 and coming in third. In the field events,
Ethan Klemme jumped to big heights as he launched 1.93m in the high jump, taking first place.
Jaylen Hobson finished second in the triple jump with a launch of 13.40m and sixth in the long jump with 6.40m. Pitts took ninth in the long jump with 5.94m.Â
The men put together several relay races for the day. They started off with the 1600m sprint medley, earning second place (3:41.48) and then finished with the 4x100 relay and finished in fifth (44.77).
The Peacocks are back in action next Saturday, April 22 at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They will compete in two more meets (Drake Relays and Dr. Tucker Open) before the NSIC Championships May 13-14 in St. Paul, Minn.
