Upper Iowa men's wrestling competed in their first conference dual of the season, defeating Davenport University in a 44-6 decision. The Peacocks improved to 1-0 (1-0 GLVC) on the year, while the Panthers dropped to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
The action opened with
Tate Murty in the 141-weight class. Murty defeated his opponent Lucas Nagle by fall in 1:32, shortly after performing a takedown. The next bout was a close replica of the first, as
Ethen Doty handled Tyson Emmons in the 149-weight class with ease, executing a takedown and then pinning him in 55 seconds.
Jackson Rolfs (157) and
Raife Smart (197) were Upper Iowa's only losses of the evening, both of them dropping to their opponents by decision.
Chase Luensman strung together a quick match as he topped Colin Campbell by a margin of 16-1. Following right behind Luensman was
Lawson Losee at 174, who defeated Darrin Alward by fall (0:59).
Colter Bye (184) took down Ethan Ramsey by tech fall 19-3, while
Jordan Baumler (285) was victorious over Gavin Falk by fall in 1:01.
Davenport was open at 125, crediting
Treyton Ackman with the forfeit win and earning six points for the team total.
James Davis (133) capped off the night with a major decision of 21-8 over Tyler Ueberroth, executing six takedowns in his bout.
