The Peacocks opened GLVC play with a 85-71 loss at home to the Indianapolis Greyhounds.
Junior
Mia Huberty caught fire immediately, surpassing her season-high 18 points, scoring 20 in the first half which is the most by any Peacock in a half this season. Huberty shot 7-12 from the floor, 2-4 from three-point range and 4-5 from the line. She also led the team with three assists in the half, while drawing five fouls. Eight of UIU's nine players scored in the first half, with the Peacocks leading at halftime, 39-37.
Graduate
Katie Tornstrom led the scoring in the second half, where she scored 12 of her 16 points. She also recorded a season-high 12 rebounds and led Upper Iowa with two steals. Graduate
Brooke Evenson played her 100
th career game with the Peacocks, scoring seven points on 3-6 shooting, and brought down four rebounds and blocked one shot. Junior
Helen Staley had a very solid all-around game, scoring four points on 2-5 shooting while recording seven rebounds and five assists. Freshman
Sydnee Nelson put together her best game to start her collegiate career, shooting 2-2 from three while dishing out two assists. Huberty finished the game with 29 points and five assists while shooting 10-22 from the field, 3-8 from three, and 6-7 from the free throw line. While the game was tied through the first three quarters, the Greyhounds pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring Upper Iowa 28-14.
The Peacocks have fallen to 2-2 and will look to get back on track against Missouri-St. Louis. UIU faces UMSL on the road Monday, Nov. 27 at 5:30 p.m.
