No. 10 Upper Iowa won eight of the ten bouts to kick off the program's Alumni Weekend on Saturday to claim a 30-11 win over No. 14 Augustana University in Fayette. Each team scored a pair of bonus-point wins, but five decisions in favor of UIU and a forfeit by the Vikings secured the victory. The Peacocks improve to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the NSIC, while Augie drops to 6-9 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
 
The Peacocks held slight advantages in takedowns (15-12) and reversals (1-0), but took the upper hand in nearfalls (7-2) thanks to a pair of two-point nearfalls and five four-point nearfalls.
 
The dual began at 125 pounds with a 16-1 technical fall (5:47) victory for No. 8 Jaxson Rohman, but Upper Iowa quickly tied the match with a technical fall of their own. Kaden Anderlik scored three takedowns, a pair of four-point nearfalls and a two-point nearfall in the 133-pound match to win 16-1 (4:08).
 
No. 4 Tate Murty kept the Peacocks scoring with an 8-2 decision at 141 pounds fueled by two takedowns and a reversal, but the Peacocks found themselves trailing 11-8 after the 149-pound match after Connor Simmonds caught Ethen Doty and grabbed a win by fall (4:47).
 
Eric Faught (157) and Cael Meyer (174) scored a pair of upsets over nationally-ranked Vikings around a forfeit win by No. 2 Chase Luensman to give the Peacocks 12 big team points and push their advantage to 20-11 with three matches to go.
 
Faught upset No. 10 Miles Fitzgerald in a 6-3 decision. Faught and Fitgerald entered the third period tied at 2 points apiece. Fitzgerald got ahead with an escape, but a late takedown and two nearfall points for Faught provided the cushion to the Clear Lake native to post the win.
 
Meyer got behind 2-0 to No. 7 Kolby Kost, but rallied with an escape, takedown and four nearfall points to take control of the bout. Meyer scored an escape in the second period and added a ride time point in the third period to notch a 9-5 decision.
 
In the 184-pound match, Cameron Lopez controlled the action and won by major decision 13-5 behind five takedowns, while No. 8 Dalton Hahn did the majority of his work in a 13-8 decision in the first period of the 197-pound match. Hahn grabbed a quick takedown and two four-point nearfalls to race out to a 10-0 lead, but Augie's Max Ramberg chipped away at the margin to cut the gap to five at the final buzzer thanks to four takedowns in the final two periods.
 
Zach Ryg closed out the dual with a controlled 3-0 decision; the Plymouth, Iowa native posted an early takedown, grabbed an escape point in the second period and maintained his advantage until the end to move the final team score to 30-11.
 
Upper Iowa will be back on the mat in Fayette on Sunday, Jan. 22 for the Mike Olson Alumni Dual at 2 p.m. The No. 10 Peacocks will take on the No. 22 Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University in another matchup of top 25 NSIC teams.
