Upper Iowa's volleyball team lost a three-set match at No. 9 Southwest Minnesota State University on Saturday afternoon in Marshall, Minn. SMSU improved to 10-0 on the year and 2-0 in the conference after set scores of 25-21, 25-16 and 25-20. After the loss, UIU falls to 6-3 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.

The Peacocks and Mustangs were tied at 21-all in set one, but the home team to scored four straight points to claim the opening frame. UIU and SMSU were also tied at 20-all in the third set when the Mustangs scored the final five points to secure the set and match victory.

Maggie Streightiff led the offense with 11 kills while hitting .364 and
Zoe Semelroth added nine kills.
Nicole Pozorski handed out 27 assists, while
Kaci Beesecker got to 16 digs in the back row.

Karli Arkell tallied 11 kills and the Mustangs had four more players with six or more kills in the match. Natalee Rolbiecki recorded 15 digs to pace the SMSU defense.

The Mustangs hit .314 as a team, while holding the Peacocks to a .124 percentage forcing 20 UIU attack errors.

Upper Iowa will be at home this coming weekend for the first time all season on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 16-17. The Peacocks welcome Wayne State College on Friday and Augustana University on Saturday in Dorman Memorial Gymnasium.
