The Peacock women's lacrosse team took on Missouri Western State University on Saturday night in St. Joseph, Mo. Upper Iowa fell 22-8 to the Griffons in the non-conference contest after MWSU jumped out to a ten-goal lead at halftime. The Griffons improved to 2-4 on the year with the win, while the Peacocks fell to 0-2.

MWSU jumped out to an 8-1 lead after closing the first quarter with six straight goals. In the second period, the Griffons outscored their guests 6-3 to claim a 14-4 lead at the break. UIU scored three goals again in the third period and added one in the fourth, while Missouri Western State scored five and three goals in the final two quarters of action.

Four Peacocks notched two goals each to combine for the team's eight scores.
Morgynn Spears,
Bailee Fabert,
McKenzie Mohlencamp and
Maya Chesky all scored twice. Spears and Chesky both added an assist in the game.
Kelsey Corcoran paced the Griffons with three goals and an assist, while 16 other players all scored goals for MWSU. Morgan Nicholson also stood out with two goals and four assists for six points.
The Peacocks will open their home slate on Sunday, Mar. 20 at 2 p.m. against the Wildcats of Northern Michigan University.Â
