Upper Iowa women's basketball returned to Dorman Memorial Gymnasium in a matchup against Concordia-St. Paul, resulting in a 71-62 decision in favor of the Golden Bears. The Peacocks fell to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in conference. CSP improved to 4-2 (1-1) in the NSIC.

Emma Anderson and Lexi Lodermeier. However, this was the largest lead they had all night. Concordia shifted the momentum of the game as they went on a 16-4 run to round out the first quarter.Â
Upper Iowa had a second-quarter surge as
Katie Tornstrom propelled the Peacocks' score with 12 of their 25 points in that period. However, the Golden Bears pushed out their lead as they netted an additional 26 points. CSPÂ had a 42-35 advantage after the half.
The third quarter was miniscule for both teams. The Peacocks held the Golden Bears to just five points, including keeping them scoreless for the entire last five minutes of the session. UIU tallied 12 points on baskets from Haack, Tornstrom and Lodermeier. A 6-0 run for the Peacocks in the last four minutes tied up the game 47-47 going into the final period.Â
The score went back and forth for half of the fourth quarter, but Upper Iowa never gained the upper hand. Concordia-St. Paul stretched their largest lead to 70-59. The Peacocks attempted to answer with a three-pointer from Anderson, but as they attempted to get back into the game by putting CSP on the free-throw line, the Golden Bears were able to convert and secure the win.
Tornstrom took over for Upper Iowa as she tallied 23 points going 9-18 from the floor, 3-5 beyond the arc. Haack contributed 15, shooting 7-15 from the field.
Concordia-St. Paul was led by Ally Gietzel and Sarah Kuma, who each recorded 19 points in tonight's contest.
Both teams shot 24-58 (41.4%) from the floor. The Golden Bears had the advantage at the charity stripe, where they converted 19-29 (65.5%). The Peacocks shot a greater percentage, 9-12 (75%), but did not receive as many attempts.Â
Upper Iowa is back in action on Saturday as they travel to Mankato, Minn for their final contest this week. Tip off with the Mavericks is scheduled for 2 p.m.
