The Peacocks shut out the Warriors of Waldorf University on Wednesday night in Fayette in the team's home opener and won 57-0. Upper Iowa posted bonus points in all five contested matches with three falls, a tech fall and a major decision. Waldorf was open in five weights as UIU came up just three points shy of a perfect dual.
The dual began with a 174-pound bout where UIU's
Scott Kellenberger posted a 17-0 tech fall in 2:06 thanks to a takedown, three four-point nearfalls, a two-point nearfall and a ride time point.
Colby Lopez followed with a 9-0 major decision at 125 pounds over Andru Gomez. Lopez scored a first-period takedown and a second-period escape before using a takedown and four-point nearfall in the third period to run away with the major.
After a pair of forfeits at 133 and 141 pounds,
Ethen Doty added another six team points with a win by fall (2:25) over Tyler Okada. Doty grabbed an early takedown and notches three four-point nearfalls on the way to his pin. After the win by fall and two more forfeits at 157 and 165, UIU led 39-0.
Colter Bye took the mat for the 184-pound match against Randry Mugisha. Mugisha scored the first takedown, but Bye rallied with an escape, a takedown and a four-point nearfall. In the second period, Bye turned a throw into takedown points and an eventual win by fall (4:38).
Zach Ryg came to the mat after a forfeit at 197 pounds by Waldorf and secured the 57-0 shutout with a calculated win by fall (2:40). The UIU heavyweight scored five takedowns and a four-point nearfall to take a 14-4 lead before finishing Jackson Rickter near the end of the first period.

Heath Grimm, now in his twenty-third season at the helm of the UIU program, the Peacocks have posted 13 shutouts in ten different seasons. Upper Iowa defeated Knox College 54-0 and Illinois College 57-0 in Grimm's first year at the helm. The Peacocks defeated UNC Pembroke 47-0 at the National Duals in 2006, Northern State University 45-0 in an NSIC dual in 2007, a perfect 60-0 shutout of Wagner in 2009 at the Sprawl and Brawl Duals and a 41-0 NSIC dual win over MSU Moorhead in 2010. During the 2012-13 season, the Peacocks defeated Waldorf College, 53-0, and in 2013-14, UIU claimed three shutouts including wins over Hannibal-LaGrange, 58-0, Calumet College, 57-0, and Northern State, 47-0. Most recently, the Peacocks claimed a 45-0 victory over the University of Mary in January 2015 and a 56-0 win over Truman State University in November 2018.
Upper Iowa dominated the four additional matches as well.
Kaden Anderlik (133, No. 11) scored a fall in just 29 seconds, while
Tate Murty (141, No. 8) earned his win by fall in 32 seconds at 141 pounds.
Eric Faught (157) also picked up a win by fall after three quick takedowns to close out the match at the 2:25 mark.
Chase Luensman (165) put on a takedown clinic posting 11 takedowns, nine in the opening frame, and a two-point nearfall to record a 25-10 tech fall win (3:39).
UIU will compete once in December. The Peacocks will head to Indianapolis, Ind. to take part in the prestigious Midwest Classic hosted by the University of Indianapolis on Dec. 17-18.
