The Peacocks went undefeated this weekend in the Central Region Challenge as they conquered Arkansas Monticello 74-59. Upper Iowa improved to 2-0 on the season, an early mark that has not been reached in years. The Blossoms fell to 0-2 on the season.
Arkansas-Monticello started the game up 9-2 just four minutes into play. They saw as much as a 16-8 advantage, but that would be their largest lead of the night as Upper Iowa chipped away at the deficit. After trailing 18-14 at the conclusion of the first quarter, the Peacocks went on a 10-2 run to open the second, gaining them their first lead of the game. The comeback stemmed from the top scorers of the evening:

Helen Staley. The trio pushed their team's lead to 32-28 at the half.
Upper Iowa kept their foot on the gas as they came out firing away in the second half. Staley helped pace the Peacocks as she contributed 10 points in the third quarter to help push their lead to 55-45. UIU did not slow down as they netted an additional 19 points in the fourth, 12 of those coming from beyond the arc.
