Cougars Control Ground Game Against Peacocks in Fayette

The University of Sioux Falls used three touchdowns in the second quarter to separate from Upper Iowa and never looked back in the final game of the 2022 NSIC football season. The Cougars led 26-6 at halftime and added to their lead to win 50-6 in Fayette on Saturday. The win moved USF to 8-3 on the season, while UIU dropped to 1-10.

On the day, the Cougars dominated the ground game racking up 356 yards and four touchdowns on 49 attempts. While the Sioux Falls offense was picking up big chunks, the Cougar defense held the home team to just 68 rushing yards on 31 attempts. The visitors added 183 passing yards for a grand total of 539 total offensive yards, while keeping the Peacock offense at bay with 170 total offensive yards.

Tyler Owen was in on 10 tackles, while Trevor Thompson added eight and Cody Cotton and RJ Knaack each recorded six stops. Collin Jones recovered a fumble as UIU won the turnover battle with a pair of fumble recoveries opposed to just one interception thrown.
